JACOBS STUDY: Sports Fans Like To Tweet THE MOUTH, JUNE 13TH, 2012 –– According to Jacobs Media President Fred Jacobs, “Sports radio fans are highly engaged, into gadgets, and especially likely to be connected via Twitter. They know how to access the sports news and happenings they crave, and they deftly use the available tools. Radio needs to work hard to be their go-to medium.” Here are some key takeaways about Sports radio listeners: It’s a Twitter world: While Facebook and LinkedIn are popular social media channels, Sports Talk fans lead the league for tweeting. Of those who use this platform, more than half follow a Sports Talk radio station and/or personality on Twitter. Relationships matter: The email club and Facebook fan page are major drivers in stronger listener/station connections, but Twitter is a major player, too. Net promoter scores lag: Sports Talk fans are near the bottom when it comes to fan recommendation and time spent listening, an indication that their consumers depend on a variety of media sources to keep up to date. In fact, “first occasions” in the morning are dominated by turning on the TV. And they are more apt to be satellite radio subscribers. In-car listening is the next battleground. Monti Carlo's Return To Radio Took Slight Detour With TV's Master Chef 3 Tries To Keep The Apron On Tonight's Master Chef 3 On Fox 9/8 Central THE MOUTH, JUNE 12TH, 2012 –– With last week's announcement of Monti Carlo filling the My 103.9/Phoenix long unoccupied midday slot, as it turned out Monti's hire had long been in the works. It took a slight detour due to being cast in TV's Master Chef 3. Monti told Jockline Daily "As is bound to happen at one point or another when you choose to go down the radio career path, last year I found myself out of work for the first time in a decade. I'm a workaholic of the worst kind and had no idea what to with just a two year old and my dog to keep me company. I spent most of my days scouring the classifieds and started putting together elaborate (but budget friendly) dinners for friends to help pass the time. During one of my job searches I found a listing for the MasterChef 3 open call and thought "Why not?" I stood in line with three of my "I Hope He Chokes" apple hand pies (lovingly dedicated to my cheating ex-husband) with about 1000 other hopefuls. The carrying case I had McGuivered out of a diaper box and a dog leash caught the producer's eye and the rest is, as they say, history. Fast forward a few months and I'm standing in front of three of the world's culinary GIANTS begging for a MasterChef apron. And you know what? I got it. Yeah, Joe Bastianich said I was faking it... but I'm pretty sure he says that to all the girls." Tune in to MasterChef 3 again tonight on FOX9/8 Central and watch her try to keep that apron. MENOUNOUS ON THE RADIO: I Was (S)exually Abused By Doctors THE MOUTH, JUNE 12TH, 2012 –– While we at Jockline Daily still brood over Maria Menounos, the 'Extra' TV host and recent contestant on "Dancing with the Stars" getting bumped before the final 3 competition, we got an extra jolt yesterday when she revealed on the radio that she was once sexually abused by two doctors. Appearing on The Howard Stern show along with her longtime boyfriend, Kevin Undergaro, she told Stern and Robin Quivera that she was (s)exually molested by two doctors when she was younger and it still affects her to this day. She explained while there for a throat problems, but was told to change into a hospital gown and then molested. "I was really young, so I was so uncomfortable. My boyfriend Kevin was in the waiting room and I literally started screaming. I was just so uncomfortable, I didn’t know what to do." Kevin told her to file charges but she didn't want to make the issue worse. Later, the topic turned light as Kevin was asked if he ever thought Maria was unfaithful. He told Stern out of all the men in her life, Derek (Hough) is the one he felt jealousy with. Many who watched the show would understand why. Maria is seen on Extra weekdays as host with Mario Lopez.
