The Eagles' Founding Member Glenn Frey Passes Away 67

7

THE MOUTH, JANUARY 19TH, 2016 –– For the second time in as many weeks, another rock legend has passed away. Glenn Frey, a founding member of The Eagles, has died at 67. At the band's website, they wrote: "It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of husband, best friend, father, comrade, and Eagles founder, Glenn Frey, in New York City on Monday, January 18th, 2016. Glenn fought a courageous battle for the past several weeks but, sadly, succumbed to complications from 7Rheumatoid Arthritis, Acute Ulcerative Colitis and Pneumonia. The Frey family would like to thank everyone who joined Glenn to fight this fight and hoped and prayed for his recovery. Words can neither describe our sorrow, nor our love and respect for all that he has given to us, his family, the music community & millions of fans worldwide. Cindy Frey • Taylor Frey • Deacon Frey • Otis Frey Don Henley • Joe Walsh • Timothy B. Schmit • Bernie Leadon • Irving Azoff

7According to cnn.com, Frey formed the Eagles with three other backup musicians for Linda Ronstadt in the 1970s, disbanded in 1980 and reunited in 1994. Frey had been suffering from intestinal issues, which caused the postponement of the band's inclusion in the 2015 Kennedy Center Honors. "We are all in a state of shock, disbelief and profound sorrow," Don Henley said in a statement Monday. "I'm not sure I believe in fate, but I know that crossing paths with Glenn Lewis Frey in 1970 changed my life forever, and it eventually had an impact on the lives of millions of other people all over the planet. "It will be very strange going forward in a world without him in it," Henley added. "But, I will be grateful, every day, that he was in my life. Rest in peace, my brother. You did what you set out to do, and then some."

Numerous artists commented on Frey's passing including Travis Tritt who posted: "Glenn Frey and the music he created alone and with The Eagles have been such an inspiration to me. We first met at the video shoot for my version of ‘Take It Easy’ in 1993. He always went out of his way to acknowledge and encourage me ever since. I'm a better person, better musician and a better songwriter having met him. I still can't believe he is gone!"

Frey's Death Mourned By Host Who Helped Break Eagles First Number One Hit; Says Record Label Pushed Other Songs

7

THE MOUTH, JANUARY 19TH, 2016 – A Kalamazoo radio host/PD credited with helping The Eagles reach their first No. 1 hit said Monday he was greatly saddened to learn of the death of Glenn Frey, whom he finally met in Grand Rapids after the group's performance there in 2014. According to mlive.com, Jim Higgs was a jock and PD at WKMI-AM (1360) in 1974. He picked "Best of My Love," a song written by Frey, Don Henley, and J.D. Souther, to play frequently in Kalamazoo even though the group's record label was pushing other songs on the Eagles' new album "On the Border." The song became a hit in Kalamazoo, Higgs continued to 7report its success to the label, but the label continued to push other selections. Finally, the label released the song as a single. By March 1975, "Best of My Love " topped both the pop and adult contemporary charts. Asylum Elektra representatives sent Higgs a framed copy of the album with autographs from the band members (shown right with Pelli and Stein who worked at the record label Elektra-Asylum Records.) Higgs now owns and serves as a host of WAKV-AM (980) in Plainwell.

Attending their concert some 40 years later, the band gave him a shout out and he met band members backstage (Higgs poses for a photo with the Eagles prior to their Sept. 8, 2014 concert in Grand Rapids) Higgs told mlive's Rosemary Parker that Frey and the other band members were very gracious. "He gave me the impression that he was truly grateful for us having started the band's first No. 1 hit, " he said. READ STORY HERE

Bubba's Lawyers Suspended Over DUI Setup In Schnitt Trial

THE MOUTH, JANUARY 19TH, 2016 –– The three attorneys involved in a DUI setup which targeted a rival attorney in case between Bubba the Love Sponge Clem and Todd Scnitt have been suspended by the Florida Supreme Court. According to wtsp.com, Stephen Diaco, Robert 7Adams, and Adam Filthaut were suspended from practicing law as the court decides whether they should be disbarred.

During a 2013 defamation trial between Schnitt and Clem, Schnitt's attorney, Phil Campbell, was allegedly set up by Diaco and two other attorneys for a DUI arrest. Campbell says the set-up involved a flirty legal assistant and a Tampa Police officer in an organized effort to land him in handcuffs. Judge Douglas Baird said in August that the setup hurt Campbell and the three attorneys should pay with their license, and re-pay $14,000 each to the Florida Bar. WATCH

THE MOUTH, JANUARY 19TH, 2016 –– The Mix Group and Premiere Networks are celebrating their 10-year anniversary with a long-term renewal. Premiere Networks, a subsidiary of iHeartMedia, continues to nationally represent The Mix Group in advertising sales. Since partnering with Premiere in 2005, The Mix Group has grown from 35 stations to more than 900 and has seen over 1,200% growth in revenues.

7President of Premiere Networks Julie Talbott (R) comments, “Jason and the team at The Mix Group have been incredible partners for the past 10 years, and we’re delighted to continue offering advertisers a powerful network of affiliates as a result of The Mix Group’s unique brand of customized imaging production.” President of The Mix Group Jason Garte says, “If you aren’t using Mix to do your imaging on barter in 2016, you’re probably stuck in the 80’s watching reruns of Press Your Luck while putting together amateur production using a Commodore 64, Casio keyboard, and a crusty, old cart machine. Or even worse, you might be paying cash for some random guy in “BFE” who takes three weeks to squeeze out a promo.”

PODCAST: 'Reasonable Doubt' With Avery Lawyer Dean Strang

7

THE MOUTH, JANUARY 19TH, 2016 –– The now infamous 'Making A Murderer' lawyer and co-council to Steven Avery, Dean Strang, joined Adam Carolla and Mark Geragos on PodcastOne’s Reasonable Doubt this week to discuss the docu-series and the case. They talked about their denied request for third-party liability in the current justice system, why Strang “doesn’t think much” about the prisoners claiming Avery had a sex chamber, the key that magically appeared after seven thorough searches found nothing, finding Teresa’s DNA on the bullet 4 months later in a previously searched area, the inconsistency with the story of a slashing, how he kept from getting emotional in court and why it would have been irresponsible for Strang to take part in the appeal.

On the Justice System and Being Denied Third Party Liability, Geragos said, “You made a motion for third party liability?...He denied that, correct?” Strang: “The judge denied that.” Geragos: “So what this was, Adam, you have to – this is the craziest thing in the law…They tell you, ‘You don’t have to prove anything. You’re the defendant.’…however, there’s a court that prosecutors have gotten away with which is, if you want to point the finger at somebody else and say they did it, you have to make an offer to the judge and the judge has to allow it. So, Dean, you did that, correct?” Strang: “We did a written proffer…and in Wisconsin, at least, Mark, there’s one additional asymmetry, to put it politely. You know, in Wisconsin, and I think in most states, in a murder case, the prosecution doesn’t have to prove a motive. They just have to prove you did it and that you intended to do it. Not a reason to do it or a motive. - LISTEN HERE
