TLANTA -- [January 2, 2016. Atlanta, GA] - The dawn of 2016 launched a new music era in Atlanta. 99X returned to 98.9 FM in Atlanta yesterday, January 1, 2016. But this is not your father’s 99X. In 1992, 99X debuted as one of the true pioneers in new music discovery. Devoted to offering new artists a platform in one of America’s greatest cities, Atlanta’s 99X became the center of a movement, a community. And now, 15 years into a new century, a new generation of artists is seeking a similar home. Twenty-One Pilots, The 1975, Cold War Kids and Cage The Elephant share the airwaves with Taylor Swift, 5 Seconds of Summer and Justin Bieber on some stations, and the music of a past generation on others. 99X is here to give music mavens their favorite established artists and a voice to what’s next: Saint Motel, The Wombats, Catfish and the Bottlemen and the countless to come. “99X will once again be Atlanta’s unique source for new music discovery,” said Program Director Greg Ausham. “99X will be a station rooted solidly in today’s artists and devoted to looking ahead toward what’s next musically.” For more information about 99X programming and events listen to 98.9 FM or log on to www.99x.com. Sportsradio 94.1 WIP has agreed to pick up an option on the afternoon host’s contract that will keep him behind the microphone in Philadelphia for the next year. “The Josh Innes Show lives on,” Innes tweeted out Tuesday night. “Thanks, everyone.” Since taking over the afternoon slot on WIP back in February, Innes has been a ratings hit, despite replacing original co-host Tony Bruno with former Eagle Hollis Thomas and Spike Eskin, who also serves as the station’s program director. More coverage Andy Bloom out at WIP Missanelli narrowly tops Innes Innes has beaten his chief competitor, 97.5 The Fanatic’s Mike Missanelli, every month except December in the key men 25-54 demographic, and placed number one overall in both the Spring and Fall Ratings Book, quarterly 7measurements of a show’s popularity that usually determines a host’s bonus. Many had speculated that Innes’ tenure at WIP might be threatened with the departure of former operations manager Andy Bloom, who became victim of cutbacks at CBS Radio. But David Yadgaroff, senior vice president and market manager for CBS Philly, says he’s committed to Innes. “Josh is part of the fabric of the station,” Yadgaroff said. “He’s one of the most compelling hosts we have on the radio, and no matter who we’ve paired him with in the afternoon, his ratings have been fantastic.” Innes was brought on board by WIP in January 2014 to take over the 6-10 p.m. slot vacated by Rob Ellis. Innes, who has previously hosted the afternoon drive spot at CBS station KILT in Houston, moved to WIP’s afternoon spot back in Februar

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — Josh Innes, Spike Eskin, and Hollis Thomas took a photo for the new Josh Innes Show weekdays 2-6 p.m. E.T. Innes asked fans to photoshop different logos onto his plain black t-shirt via Twitter on Thursday, and the responses flooded in.

2 arrested, charged in Christmas assault on KROCK host and friend By CNYCentral Wednesday, December 30th 2015 1620404_897346313652924_1377652501678445879_n.png Surveillance photo of car believed to be involved in Christmas assault on KROCK host and friend/ Syracuse Police Department 1.png 2.png MCELYEA.JPG 1934459_897346520319570_6065484942902087473_n.png Image Gallery 6 photos SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Two suspects in the Christmas assault on a KROCK host and friend have turned themselves into police, according to Syracuse Police Sergeant Richard Helterline. Police say 18-year-old Nouman Khan and 20-year-old Hamza Khan, both of Binghamton, were charged Tuesday night with third-degree assault and released on appearance tickets. The charges come only hours after someone with the twitter handle @NoumanKingKhan tweeted a video of the moments leading up to the fight. Police have confirmed the video's legitimacy to CNYCentral. The man, who posted video of the confrontation, said "They were racist, and they started the whole fight. It was self defense." The video showed one of the victims who suffered cuts in the fight hitting his vehicle. The video is loaded with expletives. The Christmas night confrontation started when Joe Grosvent, a KROCK radio host, and his cousin, James McElyea, say they were leaving a bar just before midnight when they saw a group of five men harassing a homeless person. According to police, the five men pulled up in a silver or white BMW and began to shout at them. McElyea says the men appeared to be taking pictures of them or video taping them with their phones. According to McElyea, Grosvent knocked on the window of their vehicle to ask why they were taking pictures of them, that is when, he says, a fight broke out between the two groups. McElyea says the men got out of the vehicle and began to attack: pinning him to their vehicle and repeatedly punching him in the throat, face and head, even after he'd fallen to the ground. As the pair assaulted him, he says he heard two or three others attack Grosvent. McElyea approximates the fight lasted only a few minutes, and he believes an approaching car helped break up the fight, causing the assailants to take off in their BMW. Grosvent suffered a black eye and a bloody nose. McElyea's injuries were more severe. He suffered a fractured skull during the fight and doctors had to attach a metal plate where his skull was crushed. While he is still trying to piece together what happened, he says he remembers the men punching him multiple times in the head and throat. After the fight, the victims walked to a friend's house and stayed the night. McElyea says he had no idea how badly he was injured until the next morning when he collapsed in his kitchen. McElyea, a father of four, recalled from his hospital bed: I said something's not right and the next thing I know I'm on the ground and [My wife] is putting the kids in the back of the house and calling an ambulance, trying not to upset them. I just felt a ton of pressure building up and I didn't know what it was. It literally felt like me teeth were being pushed out. I was absolutely terrified. After four days in the hospital, McElyea was finally released to continue his recovery at home. Doctors say it could take months for him to fully recover. As a truck driver, McElyea and his family worry about missed time from work. McElyea says the combination of medications he must now take, including anti-seizure medications, will force him to have to reapply for his commercial driver's license. A GoFundMe page has been set up to help his family with medical bills and lost wages.

York’s presenters and producers, including Julia Lewis, Jonathan Cowap and Phil White have been based at Queens Gardens HQ in Hull after floods at York’s Stonebow telephone exchange knocked out lines to and from their studios in the city. A video message on BBC Radio Humberside’s Facebook page shows the team from York in Hull, saying: “They’ve been an official emergency service providing listeners with information at a very difficult time for many people in North Yorkshire”. BBC Radio York is having to use a temporary Hull phone number on-air for listener interaction. The BBC local station is offering extra programmes and content in reaction to the weather situation.
