ABC's 'Shark Tank' Sinks Teeth Into Radio [VIDEO] THE MOUTH, OCTOBER 14TH, 2013 –– Benztown syndicated 'Slow Jams's host R Dub appeared as a contestant on ABC's top-rated 'Shark Tank' during last Friday's episode and while its investors took a pass, R Dub may still come out one of the night's big winners. As you probably know, the show's premise offers entrepreneurs a chance to pitch The Shark's cast members into investing their own money in a contestant's idea or business. During his appearance, R Dub (shown with singer Brian McKnight) pitched investors for a $75k investment in exchange for 10% equity. Billionaire Mark Cuban (right) was quick to opine that 'Syndicated Radio is a horrible business." A bit later Cuban's fellow investor, Kevin O'Leary, added that radio, as an investment, sucks." Sadly, all sharks eventually took a pass. For those of us viewing who are radio, this probably wasn't what we wanted to hear. But while R Dub may not have landed an investor, he got to pitch his show to one of TV's highest rated shows, typically reaching over 5 million viewers. Imagine getting five minutes before this kind of audience to pitch your idea? Add to this that R Dub did impress Shark members (Jockline as well) with his presentation, including some nice vocals from Brian McKnight. Something tells us that following R Dub's appearance he may land some big catches afterall. PHOTOS/R Dub Facebook, Cuban ABC [WATCH VIDEO]
Mark Masters Braces For "Good Fight" Over Tantaro's Suit THE MOUTH, OCTOBER 14TH, 2013 –– On the 20th anniversary of Talk Radio Network's launch, CEO Mark Masters appears poised for of a fight than celebration as he releases a follow-up response to last week's blockbuster announcement from Andrea Tantaros that she ended her employment with TRN, plus was suing for fraud. "It is a testament to the quality of Andrea's performance, and to TRN Entertainment's investment, efforts and expertise, that a competitor could offer her and her advisers a "big enough payday" if she could be convinced to try to break her contract with us - which she cannot do," says Masters. "Though we continue to believe that Andrea is a victim of those who would offer her enough money to take extreme actions, we are saddened for her and our entire team as a result of her falling to this temptation." Masters also states that Andrea cannot 'unilaterally break her contract,' and we are in full compliance with the agreement. Any statements to the contrary from her attorneys or anyone else are just bluster to attempt to hide the "payday" strategy. He also said that contrary to various reports, TRN Entertainment is current on all of its payment obligations under the agreement, and there were no payment delinquencies which had to be cured as of the Friday, October 11th date in any event. He closed with: "We also like a good fight when it is for the right reasons, and this is for all of the right reasons. We are not vindictive, but we do look forward to catching the rats and finishing what they started." TANTAROS PHOTO/fox READ COMPLETE STATEMENT HERE

Bones Show Scoops First In-Studio Swift Interview [AUDIO] THE MOUTH, OCTOBER 14TH, 2013 –– The Bobby Bones Show welcomed Country music super star Taylor Swift in-studio this morning, October 11, for an “anything goes” interview. This was a first-time appearance on the show for Swift, who was nominated for five American Music Awards yesterday. After winning over the crew with her home-baked mint chocolate chip cookies, they chatted for 30 minutes on a wide range of topics, including the opening of the Taylor Swift Education Center at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum (see below). She tells Bones: "..next year they are opening an exhibit, and essentially it’s class rooms that are opening now, which are education spaces for lectures and classes and demonstrations and music lessons…it’s gonna start the education portion of it now and then next year is when there is going to be an exhibit, and so we’re gonna be planning the exhibit for next year. But I think it was a priority for us all to open the actual classrooms right now, which is really awesome.” PHOTO/Bones Facebook LISTEN TO INTERVIEW HERE

Boston Radio Has On-Air Meltdown Following Tom Brady Touchdown [AUDIO]
THE MOUTH, OCTOBER 14TH, 2013 –– As you may have heard, Boston takes its sports very seriously. This was never more evident than listening to Bob Socci & Scott Zolak 98.5 The Sport's Hub's broadcast of yesterday's matchup between the New England Pats and New Orleans Saints. Many had assumed the Saints had the game in the bag with just over a minute to play and the Saints leading by 4 (including this die-hard Saint's fan publisher). New England Patriots wide receiver Kenbrell Thompkins then catches a game winning touchdown from Tom Brady over the outstretched arms of New Orleans Saints cornerback Jabari Greer. The Pats then topped the Saints 30-27 with only 5 sec.s left on the Clock. Following the reception, Zolak then went into some kind of bizarre, often unintelligible banter that concluded with "If “unicorns! Show ponies! Where's the beef?” Not sure what that meant, but one thing for sure is that this audio will be played over and over and over again between for many years to come. LISTEN TO USA TODAY AUDIO HERE

Andrea Tantaros Files Suit; Terminates Employment With TRN TRN's Mark Masters Believes 3rd Party Misleading Her For Own Benefit THE MOUTH, OCTOBER 11TH, 2013 –– The woes continue for Oregon based, Talk Radio Network as yet another of its syndicated hosts, Andrea Tantaros (shown) has filed suit against the network accusing them of fraud and breaching its contract. “This is a situation entirely of TRN’s own making,” Tantaros’ lawyer, Joseph Cane, told thewrap.com. “TRN’s dire financial troubles have unfortunately affected its ability to uphold multiple contact responsibilities to Ms. Tantaros. Andrea loves doing radio, values her affiliates and has fulfilled the duties of her contract for the past two months while TRN has kept her in the dark, fired her staff, and the staff at TRN necessary to sell the show to advertisers.” TRN RESPONDS: Earlier this morning, TRN CEO Master issued a statement saying "Our relationship with Andrea has been wonderful. She is a brilliant host and a talented person. Until very recently, we had an excellent relationship with her. We are now concerned that a third party is misleading her to their own direct benefit. This is not an uncommon problem when the host of a successful syndicated radio show has achieved such early success in our industry. In any event, we look forward to the prompt resolution of the matter in our favor, and to moving forward on a positive and mutually rewarding basis with Andrea for many years to come ... Regardless of this temporary intrigue, there is no legal basis for Andrea to terminate our contract (to the benefit of a predatory competitor), and we will require, and fully expect, her to abide by its terms. Contrary to certain reports we have heard, we are in full compliance with our obligations under the contract, and are prepared to enforce our rights.”
Paris Hilton Calls Raleigh Host A 'F***Ing A-Hole' Not Realizing Her Mic Was Still On [AUDIO] THE MOUTH, OCTOBER 11TH, 2013 –– Add this to the motherlode of recent radio interview drama. First, KRBE/Houston's Roula and Ryan slam Britney Spears over what they described as a 'stupid' interview. And more recently, AMP 103.3 Boston's TJ getting Spears to admit she is prompted to be more (s)exy in her music videos. Not to be outdone, G105's Bob Dumas had Paris Hilton on his show yesterday to promote her new song "Good Time." After being asked about her infamous (s) tape, she apparently wasn't in such a good mood and lashed out at the cast members following the interview. Unfortunately, thinking her mic was off, no sooner had the chat ended did Hilton scream out to her rep, calling Dumas a “f—ing a–hole,” adding “I’m never doing that show again.” “He didn’t even ask about my song,” she moans, to which her rep says, “I’ve already got a call in.” As the banter is played out on the air, the Bob's Showgram cast erupts in laughter. As for who the rep' was calling, not sure, but this audio, like Roula and Ryans and TJs, quickly found its way to all the usual gossip sites and many more to come. Topless Radio Host Reaches Out To Ellen For Appearance [VIDEO] THE MOUTH, OCTOBER 11TH, 2013 –– Remember Lori Welbourne? You know, the female Canadian radio host who Jockiine Daily told you about in August that bared her bosom to Kelowna, BC's mayor during an interview? Well, more than 3 Million YouTube views later (and current Jockline Daily record holder of most click throughs) she's back with another video, but this one doesn't involve a top drop. It's simply an attempt to get on the Ellen Defenders show. In an email to Yahoo's Canada News, Welbourne she says "Ellen’s been an idol of mine for decades, back to her days as a stand-up comic. I love her positive, honest and brave approach to life, and I love how she sticks up for the underdog, human or otherwise," Welbourne said. "She’s also no stranger to controversy, so anytime I felt affected by horribly cruel comments, in person or online, I’d think about what she must have gone through, and I drew strength from her." Welbourne hasn't heard anything from Ellen or her people just yet, but is still optimistic. She also tells Ellen on camera to not worry, she won't take off her top -- or she can always wear her pixels. WATCH VIDEO HERE

MEDIA BULL S**TTER'S ALERT: Fully Staffed Site Launched To Fact Check All Media Claims THE MOUTH, OCTOBER 11TH, 2013 –– Ever wonder if all those, quote, facts and numbers being spouted by media pundits are indeed facts? Now, The Tampa Bay Times’ along with the Pulitzer-winning fact-check website PolitiFact has announced the launch of a new site called PunditFact, dedicated to combing over the claims of pundits, columnists, bloggers, and talk show hosts/guests. PunditFact is being funded by $625,000 in grants over two years from the Ford Foundation and the Democracy Fund. Seed money was also contributed by craigconnects, the Web-based initiative to support philanthropy and public service run by Craig Newmark, founder of craigslist.
