Bubba's Back; Press Conference At 11:00 AM

THE MOUTH, OCTOBER 6TH, 2015 –– The Bubba The Love Sponge Show was back on the air this morning on WBRN 98.7 Tampa after being sidelined during an investigation into alleged rating's tampering.

This followed yesterday's announcement by Beasley Media Group saying it determined that Todd Clem (AKA, ‘Bubba The Love Sponge’), who airs his syndicated show on WBRN 98.7 in the Tampa Bay radio market, was indeed contacted directly by a PPM (Portable People Meter) holder and 7subsequently attempted to influence the listening habits of the PPM holder.

Nielsen Audio confirmed that Mr. Clem’s conduct had no impact on the Tampa Bay radio market ratings because the improper activity was discovered in a timely manner and Nielsen moved quickly to remove the PPM holder’s results from the survey. However, due to Mr. Clem’s attempt to influence the listening of a PPM Panelist, Beasley’s station, WBRN-FM (98.7 MHz), will not be included in the September 2015 ratings report. Beasley Media Group President Bruce Beasley stated “Beasley strongly condemns the actions of Mr. Clem, who has provided syndicated programming to radio broadcasters for many years and is not a Company employee. We are taking appropriate steps to ensure that such conduct does not occur in the future.

Meanwhile, BTLS was back live this morning in Tampa and called it a "Joyous day." Among others, he thanked Beasley Media for its support and elected to not take phone calls, but did say he would be holding a press conference at 11:00 am et.

‘Serial’ Being Pitched As TV Series; Not Everyone Happy

“The fact that the audience wasn’t being fed visuals — forced you to pay attention in a way that television often does not.” - Soraya Nadia McDonald

7THE MOUTH, OCTOBER 6TH, 2015 –– Production of the next season of NPR's 'Serial,' is now being pitched as a television series. According to current.org, Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, executive producers of The Last Man on Earth on Fox, want to capture behind-the-scenes action as producer Sarah Koenig (R) and her crew create Season 2 — which reportedly will focus on U.S. Army soldier Bowe Bergdahl, held captive for five years in Afghanistan.

Not everyone, however, was pleased with the announcement. The Washington Post’s Soraya Nadia McDonald wrote what made Serial’s first season so addictive “was the way it isolated you with your thoughts and left you free to visualize what Koenig was reporting and the conversations she had with the people in Adnan Syed’s life.” “The fact that the audience wasn’t being fed visuals — aside from the ones being provided if you went hunting for them on the Serial Web site forced you to pay attention in a way that television often does not.”

WHO's Simon Conway Raises More Money For Puppy Foundation

THE MOUTH, OCTOBER 5TH, 2015 A year ago WHO Afternoon Driver, Simon Conway, adopted a charity and put on a BBQ in the iHeartMedia News Talker’s parking lot for two hours. $4,000.00 was raised. Everyone was impressed. And now a year on, Conway repeated the event and in the same two hours smashed last year’s figure with a $6,000 haul!

The Puppy Jake Foundation, which acquires, raises and professionally trains service dogs for physically and mentally wounded Veterans is the official charity of his show. “Once again my audience has stood up in a huge way to help Veterans in our community,” he said. Conway convinced a local supermarket to hand over 200 Pounds of meat, a baker to give 500 buns and a Grilling Champion to do the cooking. “We were non-stop with people driving through, picking up “free” sandwiches and throwing heaps of cash in the donation buckets,” said Simon. “Not only did loads of people come out to support us, we even had a Navy SEAL team turn up! Also on hand were dogs — lots of them — including the first dog to have been given to a veteran, the original Puppy Jake himself, my own Chocolate Lab, Reagan, and a couple of eight week old puppies.” Learn more about the charity HERE.
