War Of Words Escalate In Kasem Family Feud

THE MOUTH, NOVEMBER 19TH, 2013 –– Ahead of today's scheduled probate hearing, attorneys for Jean Kasem are once again attacking the motives of her husband's children from his first marriage. According to The Beverly Hills Patch, In papers filed by his Jean Kasem, she claims "These children single-handedly and irreparably shattered the lives of their father (Casey Kasem), his wife and youngest daughter, the calm of their home and their neighborhood by engaging in uncalled for public demonstrations and personal attacks in the media," Jean Kasem's latest court papers state. "They are doing so with a professionally orchestrated media and legal campaign that has disgraced their father and vilified their stepmother ..." On Oct. 15, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Roy Paul said he would need more information about the situation before taking any action and set today's hearing to consider a conservatorship petition by Julie (L), Kerri and Mike Kasem. The judge asked for an independent evaluation of the elder Kasem, who suffers from advanced Parki7nson's disease, by a physician agreed upon by all parties, as well as a report by a probate investigator. Julie Kasem stated under penalty of perjury in her conservatorship petition that she does not owe her father money as stated in Jean Kasem's court papers, stating her stepdaughter in fact borrowed hundreds of thousands of dollars from him over the years and did not repay the money. Last month Jean Kasem filed court documents stating “My husband is terminally ill and unable to leave home.” PHOTO/Shutterstock

Howard Stern Extends With AGT; Hopes Fellow Judges Come Back

THE MOUTH, NOVEMBER 19TH, 2013 –– Amid speculation that TV's 'X-Factor' could be in trouble, that's hardly the case for NBC's "America's Got Talent,' and apparently co-judge, Howard Stern is feeling it as well. On today's SiriusXM radio show he announced he had extended with the series. "Well, I really, really did struggle with this decision because … I've been working a long time," Stern told listeners. "I really wanted to decide if this was going to take away too much … free time. Did I really still enjoy doing it? Did I have something to say? Is it something I should be involved with still ... It started out as a goof … Now it's becoming a job. I thought I'd do it for one season. And then I said … let me go back [for] a second season, I think I'll be better at it ... But anyway, after much thought, and much neurotic whining to everyone in my life — and believe me … I want to thank the following people for listening to me over and over again: my wife, oy … she put up with a lot. She's like … just make a decision already, she couldn't take it ..." He then went on to say that executives at NBC adjusted the scheduling to accommodate him more, so they made me feel very special." He then cut the tease short and said "I am going back for one season more." Quivers asked if all the judges were coming back, Stern said, "I'm assuming. Let's put it this way, when they asked me if it was conditional, I said … let them all come back!" PHOTO/NBC

UPDATE; Shanon Murphy Back Home, Doing Okay, Seriously Uncomfortable

THE MOUTH, NOVEMBER 19TH, 2013 –– Here's the latest update on Kraddick Show member Shanon Murphy, aka Psycho Shanon. From her latest Facebook post she wrote: "I'm doing OK. On a LOT of meds. Seriously uncomfortable. Couldn't pass a field sobriety test if my life depended on it. Can't focus well and I lean to the left more than usual. It could be much worse, though. So thankful for 7everything you guys have blessed me with through all of this. My brain thanks you. It really does. I'm bummed about missing the Kidd's Kids trip this year, but I guess it's just not in the cards. I would 't have been able to do anything. Not even carry a kid. A couple more weeks of "this" and then hopefully back up to somewhat normal. With a little less brain matter. And fewer staples and stitches in my head (L). Got my walker delivered today (yay) and my mom and aunt washed my hair for me. Now I have to figure out what alarms to set for what meds and head to bed for a dr appt in the morning. Brain surgery isn't fun, folks. So don't go putting it on your Christmas list. Night."

Meet Jerry Kunkel, The Dallas 'DJ' Who First Broke The News Of President John Kennedy's Death [VIDEO]

THE MOUTH, NOVEMBER 18TH, 2013 –– This Friday, November 22nd will mark the 50th anniversary of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. While most reports will recall the occasion with classic footage of then CBS news anchor Walter Cronkite or Dan Rather breaking the news, the name Jerry Kunkel 7may pass without much notice. But in reality, as a 22 year old disc jockey for KBOX/Dallas, a chance visit to a hospital men's room led to his getting what would apparently become the media's first report of the President's death. He tells Oklahoma's News 9 TV, he was likely admitted inside Parkland hospital because he wore a suit and may have been mistaken for secret service. Once inside he walked freely until seeing a group of real agents and then he headed to the men's room. Shortly afterward, Kunkel encountered a man in the men’s room at the hospital who identified himself as Dr. M.T. Jenkins, head of anesthesiology at Parkland Hospital.“I asked him if the president was dead, and he said, ‘Oh yes,’” Kunkel said. Kunkel ran to the nearest pay phone and called the station. KBOX announced the news a full 16 minutes before anyone else. Kunkel was asked by News 9's Steve Shaw: "You think it was one shooter?" Kunkel: "Um hmm." Steve: "You think it was Oswald?"Kunkel: "Um hmm." Steve: "Two shots?" Kunkel: "Umm hmm." READ MORE IN THE ENID NEWS WATCH VIDEO HERE

'Freakin' Magical:' Randi Rhodes Staying With Premiere Networks

THE MOUTH, NOVEMBER 18TH, 2013 –– After first confirming last week with politico.com that liberal talker Randi Rhodes would be dropped from its lineup, Peter Tripi, the network's SVP of affiliate relations wrote in a memo “In a happy turn of events, we are pleased to announce that Premiere Networks will continue to produce and distribute The Randi Rhodes Show.”... Tripi added “We apologize for any inconvenience the previous announcement caused, but look forward to a very successful 2014 with The Randi Rhodes Show.” Although specifics of the new deal weren't disclosed, a source tells politico.com that Rhodes is back on for one-year through Dec. 2014. As Jockline reported last week, Rhodes suggested to her listeners since October that her days on radio were “totally numbered.” Discussing the change of course on Friday's show, Rhodes that “the final story is the company has changed their mind.” “Since October, October, I knew that the plan was that the show was going to be canceled,” she said. “And I knew that. And I just didn’t want to spend my last few months with you, you know, talking about me.” Then, on Thursday, Rhodes says, “I got news that was pretty freaking magical. Now, I don’t know exactly what happened. I really don’t. ... All I can tell you is I got a phone call saying ‘Listen, there are still opportunities for you and 2014 is a very important year. There are a lot of things that are happening in 2014. We seriously don’t want to lose your voice in 2014. We do want another perspective.’ At first she told them 'Let me think.. "YES" she said.

Citadel Prevails In Lawsuit With Insurer Over Katrina Damages

THE MOUTH, NOVEMBER 18TH, 2013 –– According to law360, a Louisiana state jury decided Wednesday that Citadel Broadcasting Corp. (now Cumulus) is owed nearly $9 million in a breach of contract suit accusing Axis US Insurance Co. of not fully compensating the company for damages its radio stations incurred as a result of Hurricane Katrina. The jury said Citadel is owed $5.9 million over claims that business interruptions caused by the disaster resulted in lost advertising revenue for the radio stations and $2.9 million over claims that Axis acted in bad faith with its insurance policy. The jury decided that the insurer had breached its contract to pay for damages incurred by three of its New Orlean's stations, KKND/102.9, KMEZ/106.7 and WDVW (now WRKN/92.3). Axis had attempted to avoid payment by claiming "a loss of market exclusion" in the policy which precluded Citadel's claims and the company needed to conduct a customer-by-customer analysis. Citadel's attorney said that the verdict demonstrated the jury’s total rejection of the insurer’s so-called ‘loss of market’ exclusion.

Syracuse Show Falls For German Staring At Boobs Study Hoax [VIDEO]

Host Says Whether True Or Not, Staring At Breasts "Does Make U Feel Better"

THE MOUTH, NOVEMBER 18TH, 2013 –– During a a Friday afternoon fitness event, 95X/Syracuse's "The People's Show' with The Big Smoothie (left), among the sage bits of advice offered by the show was a study which showed that staring at a woman's breasts for 10 minutes every day could increase your life expectancy. According to syracuse.com, the show said that German researchers proved in a study that looking at breasts could reduce men's anxiety, heart rate and blood pressure while relieving other heart-related 7health conditions. The only problem, however, was that no such study exists. The study which was claimed to be published in the New England Journal had been debunked long before. As understood, the study was said to have included two groups of males: one that did not look at female breasts for five years, and another that did. Reached for comment by syracuse.com on Saturday, show host Big Smoothie"didn't defend the study, saying "I do fun stuff, whether it's true or not," he said. He added in an email that staring at breasts "does make u feel better," whether there's a study that proves it or not. WATCH VIDEO HERE

NICK CANNON: Mariah Wasn't Referring To Minaj As Satan In Radio Interview

THE MOUTH, NOVEMBER 18TH, 2013 –– I guess you can call it the radio interview that keeps on giving. Last week in an interview with Hot 97 New York's Angie Martinez show, Mariah Carey sent the gossipverse into overdrive by saying being a judge on "American Idol" was like "going to work every day in hell with Satan." Not surprisingly, most assumed Carey was referring to her then fellow judge, Nicki Mina, with whom she had often sparred. But last week, during an appearance with Billy Bush and Kit Hoover on Access Hollywood, hubby Nick Cannon, defended the comment saying. "I don't think [her 'Satan' comment] was about the people on the panel. It's about when someone tells you something and paints a picture one way, and then that's not the case." He told Billy Bush and Kit Hoover on Friday's Access Hollywood Live. "If she's used to being treated a certain way and then you have a network that says, 'No, we're gonna do this,' then..." Cannon added, despite all of the zingers and thinly-veiled insults hurled back and forth between Mariah and Nicki, Nick maintained that the singer was more upset with the show situation itself than her rapper co-judge.

REPORT: Australian Radio Network Looks To KIIS LA Branding For Anticipated Arrival of Top Show

THE MOUTH, NOVEMBER 18TH, 2013TH, 2013 –– Australia's radio's biggest stars, Kyle Sandiland and Jackie O sent shockwaves through the industry with their recent announcement that they would be leaving the top rated 2Day FM by year's end. Now comes word that The Australian Radio Network has registered the domain name for LA's top 40 station KIIS-FM suggesting it might change its Mix brand and music format in anticipation of Kyle Sandiland's arrival, according to The Australian KIIS-FM is, of course, owned by Clear Channel and, according to the report, half-owner of the ARN with APN News and Media. Speedlink Services, whose holding company is ARN, registered the KIIS domain name locally last Monday amid belief that the network would shift its format to Clear Channel's KIIS or KIIS brand, to better fit the anticipated arrival of Kyle Sandilands and Jackie O after their resignation from Southern Cross Austereo's 2Day FM. All parties are said to deny there are current negotiations between Sandilands/Jackie O and ARN, although any talks before the FM ratings leaders' program winds up on 2Day on November 29 would be seen as an inducement to break a contract and could cost ARN dearly. Of note, Sandilands doesn't have a non-compete period in his current contract with 2Day FM owner Southern Cross Austero
