[LISTEN] Bengal's Coach Causes Uproar After Calling Johnny Manziel 'A Midget' In Radio Interview; Then Apologizes

7

THE MOUTH, DECEMBER 9TH, 2014 –– What could be worse than sitting on the bench all season following a storied college career as a football quarterback? Well, how about being called a 'midget' by a rival coach? That was the case yesterday as Cincinnati head coach, Marvin Lewis (inset), was interviewed by WLW/Cincinnati's Lance McAlister. When asked about the difference in preparing for Manziel, Lewis said, "you'll get a little bit more movement if Manziel's the quarterback, the thing that they did against Buffalo. But other than that, no, it doesn't impact you at all. You've got to go defend the offense, you don't defend the player, particularly a midget.'' Following the remark, Browns fans went crazy and Lewis later apologized. "I apologize to Johnny and the Browns and all the fans in Cleveland," Lewis said. "It was just a poor remark. I really didn't mean anything by it," said Lewis. LISTEN HERE PHOTO/Shutterstock

Remaining Show Members Pay On-Air Tribute To Former Host Following Exit

THE MOUTH, DECEMBER 9TH, 2014 –– Here's something you don't hear or see often: A departing show member becoming a special topic of the day by his remaining show members. That was the case this week, by design, on Rock 100.5/Atlanta in the wake of longtime show anchor, Larry Wachs (pronounced wax) exiting the show along with a joint announcement of Jason Bailey (not to be confused with Sun Broadcast Group head, Jason Bailey) taking over on December 15th. According to Rodney Ho of The AJC, Sebastian Davis, who compiles most of the audio for the show, led the show instead of Wachs. “You may have heard in the Atlanta Journal Constitution,” Davis said, “it’s going to be a little different. Larry is no longer on the show. We wish him well. He has a lot of fans.” At around 8 am, each member of the former 'Regular Guys' spoke about Larry. They didn’t go into why he left, but did say how important he was to their lives and career, particularly “Southside” Steve Rickman (shown) and Tim Andrews. Rickman said 'I wish Larry all the best in the world. It was a great run. You have to embrace change. To Larry Wachs, yeah c’mon and one last peteetong.” Hats off to Cumulus management for this extra classy move.
