THE MOUTH, DECEMBER 8TH, 2017 –– Frank Dane (TL), a presenter on Radio 538 in Holland and his colleagues are facing criticism over a "prank" they pulled on 20-year-old singer Maan de Steenwinkel. He sent a naked man to startle De Steenwinkel while she was performing on the radio station. The young woman was so shocked that she burst into tears. The incident happened on November 17th, but only started getting attention on Sunday when singer Tim Knol and others expressed outrage on Twitter.
New Zealand Legend, Jay-Jay Harvey Leaves The Edge - New Zealand Radio Legend’s Next Step - Kiwi radio presenter (and a regular at Morning Show Boot Camp) Jay-Jay Harvey from The Edge 94.2 in Auckland did her last shift on November 27, and has left the station after 23 years. She’s moving across to another of the MediaWorks platforms. That wasn’t supposed to be announced until the New Year. But a local politician may have let the cat out of the bag. National Party MP Steven Joyce has revealed Harvey will be heading to The Breeze, reportedly saying: “After all these years, after 23 years on The Edge, (Harvey) is going to work on The Breeze apparently because those are the only songs she knows now.” Before a move into politics, Joyce was a ‘radio man’ and gave Jay-Jay a job at Taranaki’s Energy FM when she was a teenager. Media Works will ‘officially’ announce her position in January.

Former Denver Host Says $1 Payment To Taylor Swift Was Sent Last Week
THE MOUTH, DECEMBER 7TH, 2017 –– The former Denver morning host who was ordered to pay a symbolic $1 to Taylor Swift following her court victory in Denver last August, says his attorney mailed payment on Nov. 28th. Following yesterday's Time Magazine 'Person of the Year' announcement which featured Swift among its 'Silence Breakers', David Mueller, aka Jackson, contacted Jockline and provided a copy of the letter he says his attorney sent to Taylor's attorney, along with a photo of the Sacagawea coin (shown) that was sent.
In an interview published Wednesday (12/6), she said she had yet to receive the dollar. Swift told Time's Eliana Dockterman, "When the jury found in my favor, the man who sexually assaulted me was court-ordered to give me a symbolic $1. To this day he has not paid me that dollar, and I think that act of defiance is symbolic in itself." Two WNYC Hosts Suspended Amid Inappropriate Conduct Investigation
Garrison Keillor's Attorney Wants MPR To Set The Record Straight
THE MOUTH, DECEMBER 7TH, 2017 –– Leonard Lopate and Jonathan Schwartz, two longtime hosts at WNYC New York, have been put on leave effective immediately pending investigations into allegations of inappropriate conduct reports WNYC. The announcement comes just days after reports of harassment by the former host of the The Takeaway, John Hockenberry.
In a statement from Laura Walker, President and CEO of New York Public Radio, said the station "takes these kinds of allegations very seriously and is reviewing these matters promptly" Lopate has been a host at the station for more than 30 years. WNYC's Mary Harris will fill-in for Lopate. Schwartz 
is the host of The Jonathan Channel as well as several hours of programming on Saturday and Sunday. Lopate told CNN that he was shocked by the decision. “I’m baffled by this. It makes absolutely no sense to me,” he said. “I’m sure that any honest investigation will completely clear me.”
The suspensions come after claims of inappropriate behavior which led to the exit of 'A Prairie Home Companion” creator Garrison Keillor. The president of Minnesota Public Radio told employees the decision to dismiss Garrison Keillor resulted from "multiple allegations" covering an extended period of time, but an attorney for the former "The Prairie Home Companion" host disputed that characterization and said the humorist wants MPR to "set the record straight," reports AP. In response to the MPR News report, Keillor attorney Eric Nilsson issued a statement early today: "We are aware of allegations against Mr. Keillor by only one individual," Nilsson said. "We trust that Mr. McTaggart will set the record straight in this respect to avoid any misperceptions on that point." Nilsson says Keillor wants a swift resolution of the matter and "with it expects a full restoration of his reputation." "The Prairie Home Companion" continues with Keillor's successor, mandolinist Chris Thile.
NIELSEN: Baseball Bolsters Sports Radio Ratings In Nov.; Urban Contemporary Continues Gains Among Millenials
THE MOUTH, DECEMBER 7TH, 2017 –– Nielsen says for some, this time of year is all about holiday music and its far-reaching effects across the radio dial. Over the next few weeks, the full impact of stations that flipped to an all-Christmas format will become apparent in Nielsen’s portable people meter (PPM) markets. For others, the end of the year marks both the chance to take stock of larger macro trends that can reveal shifting consumer taste and take advantage of the most important stretch of the calendar for sports listening. With the release of the November audience trends, Sports radio stations are seeing the annual upswing that happens each year when football moves back to the top of the fandom food chain and the major league baseball season concludes with a thrilling month of playoffs. Since June, the audience shares for sports-formatted stations have risen more than 30%.
On the music radio front–and particularly among formats that favor both popular and urban music–November offers an opportunity to take stock of how preferences have changed in the past five years. When assessing the audience share among Millennials (those aged 18-to-34) there are three formats which share a significant amount of audience, depending on the music cycle: Pop Contemporary Hit Radio (CHR), which is the top-ranked format for Millennials, it’s rhythmic-leaning cousin Rhythmic CHR, and of course Urban Contemporary which often identifies as hip-hop. Since 2012, Urban Contemporary has moved from being the seventh-most popular format among Millennials to the fifth-most popular today (rising from a 5.0% share to a 6.5% share). At the same time, Rhythmic CHR has declined from the third-ranked format to the sixth-ranked format now (falling from a 7.2% share to a 4.9% share). Pop CHR has maintained the top spot and is one of the largest radio formats overall, but over the past 18 months the format has trended flat to slightly down.
