Will Carrie Underwood Have To Sing For KMLE's Tim & Willy?

Bets On Husband Who Plays For NHL's Predators Against Phoenix Coyotes

THE MOUTH, APRIL 25TH, 2012 –– While promoting her upcoming CD Blown Away on KMLE Country 108, Carrie Underwood made a friendly wager with Tim Hattrick and Willy D. Loon. With the upcoming second round NHL playoff series between the Phoenix Coyotes and the Nashville Predators, guess who Carrie is picking? Tim and Willy are totally caught up in the excitement of the Coyotes first playoff series win in 15 years and put the country songtress, who's married to Predator’s center Mike Fisher, to the test. Here’s the bet: If the Coyotes win the series- Carrie will have to sing one of Tim and Willy’s Coyote Songs when she comes to town on tour in October (her show will be in the Coyote’s Arena!). If the Predators win, Tim and Willy will eat a vegan diet for an entire month. The menu will be provided by Carrie herself. Willy tells Jockline Daily: “I hope the Coyotes win. The closest I’ve come to a vegan diet is when I deep fried everything in vegetable oil!” The series between Phoenix and Nashville begins later this week.

Pandora The #1 Station In LA?

1.9 million listeners edges out KIIS-FM's 1.4 million

THE MOUTH, APRIL 25TH, 2012 –– According to a new Media Audit poll, Pandora is the No. 1 radio station in Los Angeles. In the poll released yesterday, it was estimated that 1.9 million people in Los Angeles listened to Pandora between September and October of 2011. The No. 2 station, KIIS-FM, garnered 1.4 million listeners in the same time period. According to The LA Times, Pandora has come under heavy scrutiny by investors for not growing its ad revenue quickly enough. In the last fiscal year Pandora paid more than half of its total revenue in music royalties." Apparently, Wall Street was unimpressed with the poll. Pandora closed at $8.53, from an initial public offering price in June of $16.

The Rise And Fall of Morton Downey Jr. Detailed In Biopic

THE MOUTH, APRIL 24TH, 2012 –– Before Limbaugh, Hannity et al, there was Morton Downey Jr. The chain-smoking radio /turned TV host who took on the most controversial issues of the day and got in the faces of those behind them. Now, his much publicized rise and fall is captured in Évocateur: The Morton Downey Jr. Movie. The documentary, which made its premiere at the 2012 Tribeca Film Festival, was directed by Seth Kramer, Daniel A. Miller and Jeremy Newberger. Marlow Stern writes in The Daily Beast: "The Morton Downey Jr. Show soon became too divisive for its own good .. advertisers began pulling out over its edgy format ... Ratings began to decline, and off-camera, the host began to assume his public persona." His ultimate undoing occurred in April 1989, when Downey claimed he was attacked in a bathroom of the San Francisco Airport by a trio of skinheads who attempted to shave his head and paint swastikas on his clothes with a black marker. It later turned out to be a hoax. Soon after, his TV show was canceled. Over the next few years he tried various comebacks to no avail. He died in March 2001 from lung cancer.

Comedian Gary Owen Shares His 'Metta Moment' With Fox's Daybreak [AUDIO]

THE MOUTH, APRIL 24TH, 2012 –– Actor and comedian Gary Owen joined FOX Sports Daybreak hosts Artrell Hawkins and Andy Furman today, April 23, and talked about his three-day, not-so-peaceful experience with Metta World Peace on the set of "Think Like A Man." Taking an elbow for the team while filming a basketball scene for the number one movie, Owen thinks he matched James Harden’s now infamous encounter with World Peace during the Oklahoma City Thunder vs. Los Angeles Lakers game yesterday. Owen said: “…when I saw James Harden last night, I was like, ‘I took that for three days of shooting.’ …I don’t think Ron knew ‘go half speed’ and I had to guard Ron...there’s not an off switch.  I was like dude!  For real now.”   Owen went on to say, “We can bag on NBA players ‘til you play them, and then you realize how good they really are.” Despite his Metta moment, Owen says his craziest athlete encounter was when Mike Tyson came to one of his comedy shows and playfully hit him in the stomach, which he took lying down.  Owen also jokingly took credit for Think Like A Man’s success, knowing it might be his only shot at being in a #1 movie.LISTEN TO AUDIO

Khloe Signs Off In Dallas

THE MOUTH, APRIL 24TH, 2012 –– You probably figured the minute hubby Lamar Odom left the Mav's, Khloe wouldn't be far behind in returning to LA. Word leaked over the weekend that her short-lived run on Mix 102.9/Dallas would officially end on Monday as she said farewell to her midday "The Mix Up with Khloe Kardashian." Longtime Dallas host Tara handled the sendoff by chatting with her about her time in Dallas, favorite hot spots, fried pickles and more. Kardashian's show began in late January as a one-hour, mostly-prerecorded show in which Khloe would intro songs and, not surprisingly, interview family members, reality-TV stars, and various celebs. She did say she really enjoyed radio and left the door open to other opportunities. In the meantime, Jockline Daily will keep an eye out on where Lamar ends up. Perhaps another show awaits her.

WINANS: Tips On Getting Your On-Air Topics Trending On Twitter

THE MOUTH, APRIL 24TH, 2012 –– Admit it: when something you do on the air begins trending on Twitter it's a total rush. The trick, of course, is knowing how to motivate others to share. Social media strategist, Stephanie Winans, of The Randy Lane Company and frequent contributor to Jockline Daily, offers 5 Tips To Get Your On-Air Topics Trending On Twitter: 1. Be Funny - Who doesn’t love to laugh, or to make someone laugh? A topic that’s funny has a good shot at being shared. 2. Be Relatable - The Dave Ryan Show started a trend with an on-air topic last week. They knew that everyone could relate to white trash people problems. Admit it: you know someone (or are someone!) who has had these issues. 3. Be Universal - A topic that is only relevant to your market will only be shared in your market. Choose a universal topic and you’re more likely to create a national or international trend. 4. Keep It Simple - Get too creative and others won’t be able to devise their own tweets to help your hashtag rise to the trending topics list. 5. Promote It - Promote it on the air, and on Twitter using the hashtag. Let your Facebook fans know what’s happening on Twitter, too with a post that says something like “Tweet us with your suggestions for our topic using the hashtag #WhateverItIs. Not on Twitter? Leave us a comment here.” When you start to achieve some success on Twitter in the way of retweets or tweets using the hashtag, share them on-air. Make it sound big and more listeners will participate. Share the best ones on-air and credit the user’s Twitter name when you do. Learn more about Twitter trends here. Meet Stephanie Winans up close in Miami at this year's Morning Show Boot Camp 24, where she presents "5 Ways To Create A Killer Social Media Game Plan."
