Glenn Beck Merges GBTV Into TheBlaze

THE MOUTH, JUNE 19TH, 2012 –– In an interview with cnn.com, Glenn Beck said "I didn't like the name GBTV from the very beginning ... One, it's a little egocentric, and two, it's television, which doesn't describe necessarily what we do." As a result, Beck is now merging his online media properties GBTV and TheBlaze.com into one network called TheBlaze. TheBlaze, pairs one of the world's largest subscription streaming video networks with a website that generates over 7 million unique visitors per month into one powerful multimedia brand," Mercury Radio Arts stated in a press release. Beck and Chris Balfe, president and COO of Mercury Radio Arts (Beck's company), said they planned to change the name once the online streaming network was more established but the early success of GBTV precipitated an earlier name change. In the latest estimate, GBTV has more than 300,000 subscribers.

THE MOUTH, JUNE 19TH, 2012 –– Broadcasting from his Las Vegas FOX Sports Radio studio, JT The Brick was featured in a segment on Las Vegas’ CBS 8 News Now. In the piece, he talks about how social media has impacted sports talk radio, including how it has changed his nightly show on FSR. In addition to traditional callers each night. JT the Brick is the only remaining nationally syndicated sports show host in Las Vegas. His nightly show is built around listeners calling or tweeting comments and observations about sports. He told CBS 8 News, "It's the biggest change in my career," he said. "When I started, you had to read a newspaper during the day and maybe catch SportsCenter at the top of the hour to get some highlights. Now during my show, I have a Twitter feed up, Facebook up. I have my iPhone open." Of course, he adds, "There are pros and cons to almost every new innovation. Social media bring fans and athletes together, but they can also tear fans apart. The negatives are athletes not having that filter," JT said. WATCH VIDEO

MSBC's Traveling Tribute Now Enroute

THE MOUTH, JUNE 19TH, 2012 –– Notice to our readers: Thursday & Friday's editions of Jockline Daily will arrive a bit later in the day due to MSBC XXIV/Miami. In fact, this morning's issue comes you direct from our travelling tribute wagon somewhere on the outskirts of Florida. You may ask, why are you driving instead of flying? Here's why. At Morning Show Boot Camp's first event in Atlanta back in 1989, event host Don Anthony was so humbled by the number of shows who drove hundreds and hundreds of miles to participate in this first-ever event designed exclusively for high-profile talent that he made a promise. He told the crowd back then "if you keep coming we'll keep putting this annual talent get-together on. In fact, like so many of you here, 'll drive each year to this event in honor of those who got this event off the ground." Nearly 24 yrs later, with the exception of two stops, one in LA, the other to Las Vegas, he's driven every year. As for the van, uhhh, ok, it's a stock photo. We're actually holed up in a hotel that serves up free breakfast. But of cours. See ya in Miami!

CBS Orders Pilot For Seacrest Produced Game Show

Mulls Purchase Of Dick Clark Productions

THE MOUTH, JUNE 18TH, 2012 –– With the remaining thirty or so minutes media behemoth, Ryan Seacrest, has each day, he apparently will now take care of that with "Draw Something," a TV take on the mobile game of the same name. According to The Hollywood Reporter, CBS has ordered the pilot for Seacrest-Produced game show. It arrives by way of Sony Pictures Television and Embassy Row, with Michael Davies (Glee) as executive producer. The show features celebrities and everyday users playing in front of a live audience to earn cash prizes. It will also offer an option for viewers to play along at home for prizes. This pilot order comes just months after Farmville creator Zynga bought the company behind Draw Something for a reported $200 million. In another Seacrest related story, no sooner had Jockline Daily reported last week (JD 6/14) that representatives for the late Dick Clark were testing the waters toward the sale of Dick Clark Productions, came the non-surprising word of Seacrest's interest. According to Reuters, insiders said Ryan Seacrest Media, Core Media Group and Colony Capital are among potential bidders who have requested information from Raine Group, the representative group. According to one source, the final price could top $300 million.
