CBS Radio Files For IPO; Continues To Consider Other Paths THE MOUTH, JULY 11TH, 2016 –– CBS Corp. took its first official step toward going public last Friday by filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission with plans to raise about $100 million in an initial public offering. The Wall Street Journal reports that figure is used to calculate registration fees and is likely to change. The filing didn’t indicate on which exchange the company would seek to trade or what its ticker would be. CBS would retain voting control of the company, according to the filing. The separation, which Chairman and Chief Executive Leslie Moonves disclosed in March at the company’s investor day, follows a similar path as the 2014 spinoff of its outdoor-advertising unit. In the fourth quarter, CBS took a $484 million write-down on the value of its radio licenses. The company has been leaning towards its TV business and expanding into other platforms, such as streaming and digital, seeking to increase revenue by $3.75 billion through 2020. In a memo on Friday, CBS Radio president Andre Fernandez (L) reassured employees the company will go on, writing , “An initial public offering of CBS Radio stock has been and continues to be our primary focus as a step towards separating CBS Radio from CBS Corp. That said, we are continuing to consider other paths to find what we believe will be the best option for unlocking the value of our radio assets for CBS shareholders.” PHOTO/ Songquan Deng - Shutterstock

In Dallas, Tyler Cox, Program/Operations Manager, WBAP NewsTalk 820AM & KLIF News & Information 570AM, tells Jockline, "WBAP 820AM was in our usual live local talk show with Chris Krok (R) Thursday night when the shooting began. We had a couple of our reporters following the march and we moved into continuous commercial-free coverage right away, simulcasting on our other news/talk station, KLIF 570AM. We supplemented our coverage with content from our news partner WFAA TV. We stayed in live coverage all night until 5am, at which time both stations separated to each station's respective morning shows. Our staff worked through the night and all day Friday covering the story and airing live briefings from the Dallas Mayor and Police Chief." Cox wrote later to add, "We're back at it again Saturday evening. Dallas Police HQ went under lockdown, due to what was called a "serious threat" against Dallas police. At this moment we are again in live continuous coverage on both WBAP and KLIF, with reporters live on the scene. --Westwood One News correspondent Alan Scaia, who is based in Dallas, was immediately on the scene reporting Thursday night. Affiliates were provided special reports twice per hour in the late evening, overnight, and throughout the day Friday. Westwood One News also featured exclusive sound from presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton. --At 106.1 KISS-FM Dallas, members of the Kidd Kraddick Show were on vacation, but that didn't stop the show from going into emergency mode as YEA Network VP of Entertainment, Mike Morse teamed with afternoon host Billy The Kidd to provide Friday coverage during its morning slot. He tells Jockline, in addition to the coverage, he was super proud of his 6 year old who made this shown picture at church today and wanted to drop it off at the Police Station.
