[WATCH] Ellen K's Family Caught Up In Jerusalem Attacks During Vacation

THE MOUTH, JULY 16TH, 2014 –– Longtime KIIS-FM/LA morning co-host Ellen K's perfect family vacation came to a terrifying halt when they were forced to evacuate to a bomb shelter. She tells NBC4 LA's Robert Kovacik while there to visit Madrid, Jerusalem, the Dead Sea, Tel Aviv and the beaches she, her son Calvin and husband Roy Laughlin had arrived in Jerusalem the day after a funeral for a Palestinian teen who was killed in a revenge attack for the murder of three Israeli 7teenagers. "I really thought we weren't going to make it out," she said. "It was so frightening ... I am seeing really a ghost town with rocks all over the streets, graffiti, trash cans and dumpsters on fire, smoke everywhere," she recalled. "(I was) thinking, 'Oh, no. This is really bad.'" Then that night during a show at the Tower of David air raid siren starts to go and ushers began screaming for them to 'get out, get out, get out. Get into the bomb shelter,' she said. From that point, their goal was to get out alive. She said, "While we were at the Tel Aviv airport begging for this flight, trying to work it out, there were probably three runs to the bomb shelter while we were waiting to get on the plane," Ellen K recalled. "The military is there running it. Until we were 10,000 feet in the air, we did not feel safe." Finally, she and her family was able to return to their home in Hollywood and she was back on with co-host Ryan Seacrest this week.

THE MOUTH, JULY 16TH, 2014 –– In a tragic story filled with bizarre twists, here is yet another. Kasem, who passed away on June 15 at a hospital in Gig Harbor, Washington, has still not been buried one month after his death. Reportedly, his body is being kept at a mortuary in Tacoma, Washington. A spokesperson for the hospital said the body was claimed by the family, but they were not aware whether the burial arrangement had been made. Casey previously expressed that he wanted to be buried at Forest Lawn cemetery in Glendale, Calif. Casey suffered from Lewy body disease, a form of dementia, prior to his death at the age of 82.

Day-Care Operator Indicted For Stealing Food-Aid Money And Filing Bogus Lawsuit Against Philly Radio Station And Host

7THE MOUTH, JULY 16TH, 2014 –– The founder of a chain of day-care centers in Philadelphia was indicted Monday in federal court on charges of stealing money intended to feed low-income children with filing a bogus lawsuit against Philadelphia radio personality Tarsha "Jonesy" Jones (L) that allowed her to receive a "substantial" settlement from Power 99 and led to the host firing. According to philly.com, Tracey Parson, founder of Kiddie Kare Child Care & Education Center Inc. allegedly conspired with others to defraud the government for more than 2 1/2 years, from around December 2009 until June 2012. Reportedly, Kiddie Kare received $523,148 in reimbursements from a federal food program administered through the Pennsylvania Department of Education. In 2011, Parson filed a suit against Clear Channel Communications Inc. and Jones, alleging that Jones defamed her during a radio broadcast about a purported altercation between groups of girls involving Parson's daughter. Prosecutors claim Parson fabricated evidence that her business suffered, that her property was vandalized, and that she received threats of violence. In July 2012, Clear Channel paid a "substantial sum" to Parson to settle the lawsuit, but now prosecutors want Parson to forfeit nearly $1.3 million, which presumably includes the amount she allegedly defrauded from the government and from the Clear Channel settlement.

[WATCH] ESPN's Paul Finebaum Takes Cut At WFAN's Francesa's Sleeping Incident

THE MOUTH, JULY 16TH, 2014 –– Call it the snooze seen round the world, but few sports fans will likely forget WFAN/New York's infamous dozing off by Mike Francesa during a video simulcast last year. Paul Finebaum was among those who took notice. According to nj.com, having joined ESPN last year he spoke to SI.com's Richard Deitsch about what's ahead for 7him this season. He quipped: "I never like to make guarantees but one thing I won't do is fall asleep while doing the show," Finebaum said. And for those scant few who may have missed the story, Francesa allegedly fell asleep on the air (click on slide at right) while speaking to WFAN's Sweeny Murti. Finebaum also commented on former Jets QB Tim Tebow, who will join him on ESPN's "SEC Nation": "I think people are going to watch Tebow to hear what he has to say, to see what he looks like, and how he behaves. I have been around him in different settings with large crowds and I have not seen anything like it.

Westwood One Partners With Industry to Support NextRadio® Funding

THE MOUTH, JULY 16TH, 2014 –– Westwood One announced an agreement with NextRadio that enables all members of the U.S. Radio Industry to use advertising inventory to fund the Industry’s Sprint payments. Nex7tRadio, an outgrowth of the Radio Industry’s initiative to make FM broadcast radio available on smartphones and tablets, is an app that enhances over-the-air FM radio broadcasts with album art, buy song and station information, and allows stations and their listeners to interact directly using a smartphone’s built-in features such as calendaring, find nearby, text messaging, visit website, and more. Over the past year, broadcasters have been asked to commit dollars and/or inventory to fund the Sprint NextRadio Initiative, which plans to sell at least 30 million FM receiver-enabled smartphones in the next three years. Broadcasters can meet their commitment by providing two minutes per station per day (Monday-Sunday, 6am to Midnight). Westwood One will sell the spots on NextRadio’s behalf and NextRadio will pay the proceeds to Sprint. The participating broadcasters' donations will help to create the momentum needed to get FM receivers activated in the more than 300 million cell phones in the market today. “We are confident that NextRadio is a game-changer for the radio industry and will reignite growth,” said Jeff Smulyan, Chairman and CEO of Emmis Communications. “The addition of Westwood One to focus on the sales effort will allow companies to use ROS inventory to fulfill their pledges instead of writing checks. This gives every company an option.” Westwood One is already working with several station ownership groups. Interested stations can contact sprint@westwoodone.com or (212) 419-2926 to participate.
