NextRadio Study Proves How Radio Can Help Reach Voters; N/T Listeners Most Interested In Voting; Top 40 The Least

7

THE MOUTH, JULY 27TH, 2016 –– A recent NextRadio® in-app survey uncovered more than 1 in 3 surveyed do not plan to vote in November. In June and July, NextRadio listeners were asked whether they planned to vote in the upcoming election. One in four said they are “Undecided” about voting on 11.8.2016. The remaining 42% indicated “Yes” they do plan to vote. This figure compares unfavorably with the 2012 Presidential race in which 38%* of eligible voters did not vote.

7Radio clearly has an important role to play in reaching this sizable group of undecided voters and those showing a willingness to sit out this election cycle. Not surprisingly, News/Talk listeners expressed the highest intention to vote across station formats at almost 3 in 4 (74%). Still, there remains approximately 20% of News/Talk listeners who plan to sit out this election. Looking across station formats, Top 40 listeners were the least enthusiastic about voting, with nearly 70% stating “No” or “Undecided” on their voting plans. Country and Spanish Music format listeners fall right behind with their “No” and “Undecided” responses (66% and 63%, respectively). Additionally, 1 in 4 listeners of the following formats says he/she is “Undecided” about voting in November: • Rock (26%) • Country (25%) • Classic Rock (24%) • Hip Hop (24%) • Spanish Music (24%) • Top 40 (23%)

“It was a simple question that we asked,” said Paul Brenner, President, TagStation LLC, “but one with obvious opportunity for broadcasters nationwide. The survey highlights the large number (58%) of undecided voters where radio’s reach and frequency can make a huge difference for candidates “getting out the vote” and certainly makes the case for more campaign spending on radio. THE MOUTH, JULY 27TH, 2016 –– Apple has purchased the unscripted TV series based on the “Carpool Karaoke” segment of CBS’ “The Late Late Show with James Corden.” They will distribute the series to its members in 100 countries worldwide reports Variety. “We love music, and ‘Carpool Karaoke’ celebrates it in a fun and unique way that is a hit with audiences of all ages,” said Eddy Cue, Apple’s senior vice president of Internet software and services. “It’s a perfect fit for Apple Music — bringing subscribers exclusive access to their favorite artists and celebrities who come along for the ride.”

The most recent installment with first lady Michelle Obama (shown) and Missy Elliott garnered nearly 32 million views on YouTube since July 20. “Carpool” segments to date have generated more than 800 million views, according to CBS. “We couldn’t be more excited to be partnering with Apple Music on this exciting new series of ‘Carpool Karaoke,’ ” said Winston. “The joy of ‘Carpool’ is both the intimacy it creates, while seeing the love our passengers have for music. Where better to showcase that than with Apple Music.” Apple has licensed 16 episodes of the show, to be executive produced (but not hosted) by Corden and “Late Late Show” exec producer Ben Winston. Knowing how to physically produce something the way it’s heard in someone else’s head is a very special skill, and it all starts with the collaborative relationship between PD and Imager.” The two-day interactive experience by imagers, for imagers, takes place Sept. 28-29 at The LOFT on Bayshore Drive in Miami. Dealing With In-Studio Flare-Ups? 'Make Sure To Take Your Ego Out Of The Conflict' Says Expert

THE MOUTH, JULY 26TH, 2016 –– As a nationally recognized authority on Mating Websites and Relationships, Matt Titus has been featured on numerous TV talk shows such ABC's Good Morning America, NBC's Today, Wendy Williams and others. Titus, who'll be making his first trip to this year's Morning Show Boot Camp, was recently asked by Jockline how he would apply his special skills to common issues often faced by top radio shows. For instance, the best approach to airing out what's bothering them after a flare-up with a fellow show member. Titus said, "Radio personalities can detect and call bull(s)hit very quickly.

"If there's something bothering you about what your partner said or did, let them know in a direct and respectful manner. Start out without any attitude, talking about the positives surrounding the particular incident and then, ask them why they did whatever they did that bothered you. As mentioned, show no emotion during the answer and then explain why it bothered you. Emotion and attitude are what make things so much worse. Make sure you take your ego out of this conflict. If you do this, I am sure the problem will be rectified."

In addition to TV, Titus has been busy calling in to numerous morning shows recently like: Mojo in The Morning in Detroit/Channel 955 Detroit, Paul and Young Ron in Miami/Big 105.9/Miami , The Frank Show /KLPX-FM Tucson and others. If you'd like Matt to join you as a guest, contact

VoxPro To Pit Jock Against Jock At Morning Show Boot Camp 28 Atlanta

THE MOUTH, JULY 26TH, 2016 –– It takes one to know one. And no one knows how to personalize radio better than Caffeinated Radio’s Jason Pullman (far left) and Power 96-1’s Maddox (left), who will be judging the upcoming VoxPro skills competition during Morning Show Boot Camp in Atlanta next month. The two are among Atlanta’s best-known radio personalities and will be making the final call for this year’s VoxPro challenge, which pits jock against jock in a test of editing skills using the VoxPro recording/editing system.

The competition will take place at the VoxPro booth, where competitors will sit down with a VoxPro audio recorder/editor to edit a two-minute master file using VoxPro recording and editing tools. They will be able to crank up, scrub out, insert record and add special effects – in short, do all the moves typical of a fast-paced radio show, only with a prize at the end! Maddox and Pullman, both self-described VoxPro power users, will judge entries based on speed, creativity and how much of their personality they can inject into a final cut. “Technology, fun, and a little friendly competition between jocks; this is right up my alley and it’s going to be a lot of fun!” says Maddox, who is known for making listeners a part of his afternoon show (4 to 8 p.m.) on Atlanta’s #1 Hit Music Station, Power 96.1. “Could get interesting,” agreed Jason Pullman, who keeps things lively as half of morning show Caffeinated Radio on 94.9 The Bull, Atlanta. The VoxPro skill competition will take place August 11 and 12 at the Grand Hyatt Buckhead in Atlanta. The lucky winner will take home a version of the new VoxPro6 software with GapBuster automatic silence removal, multi-track editing and detachable Hotkeys panel.

Qualified talent can enter the VoxPro skills competition by registering HERE. All registered entries will receive a free T-shirt that can be picked up at the VoxPro booth during Morning Show Boot Camp. Staff will also be available during the conference to provide free editing tips and hands-on VoxPro coaching.

WOR To Rebroadcast Mike Piazza Home Run From 9/21/11

7

THE MOUTH, JULY 26TH, 2016 –– This Thursday night, 710 WOR-AM, the New York Mets’ radio flagship station, will once again open the vaults to re-air the now-iconic game from September 21, 2001, in which Mike Piazza hit the first home run for a New York team after the terrorist attacks of September 11. This special rebroadcast will serve as a lead-up to Saturday evening’s ceremony at Citi Field in which the Mets will retire newly-minted Hall of Famer Piazza’s number.

Howie Rose, the lead radio voice of the Mets, said, “The Mets-Braves game of September 21st, 2001 was perhaps the most unique sporting event in New York City history. Just ten days after the attacks which took down the World Trade Center and killed nearly three thousand people, it was with great trepidation that many of us made our way to Shea Stadium.” “A crowd of over forty thousand people had not gathered in one place in New York over the previous week and a half, and there was a palpable nervousness in the ballpark. Until Mike Piazza changed the narrative .. Fifteen years later, that home run still provides solace, warmth, and yes, sheer happiness. Hopefully this rebroadcast provides a bit of that," said Rose.
