[WATCH] Cincinnati Host Charged With Shooting Wife; Told 911 Dispatcher It Was An Accident

THE MOUTH, AUGUST 13TH, 2014 ––
55KRC/Cincinnati talker Blake Seylhouwer (L), has been arrested and charged with shooting his wife Tuesday evening after telling police it was an accident. According to wcpo.com, police claim Seylhouwer waited until his wife Misty Seylhouwer (R) turned her back before he purposely fired a shot in her direction in their driveway in the 5000 block of Windridge Drive at about 2:40 p.m. The bullet ricocheted off the ground and struck his wife in the head, leg, stomach and neck, according to Madeira Police Chief Frank Maupin. Investigators said they initially treated the incident as an accidental shooting and did not charge Blake. It was later determined an argument took place between the couple before the shooting. Blake had told a 911 dispatcher "I shot my wife accidentally” after the gun fired - LISTEN TO 911 CA7LL HERE - Blake told the dispatcher he was removing his rifle from a vehicle’s trunk when it fired. A 30-06 rifle is a high-powered gun commonly used for deer hunting. "She came out of the car and I accidentally hit her," Blake said. Police charged Blake Tuesday evening with felonious assault and domestic violence. He is being held in the Hamilton County Justice Center. He is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday at 9 a.m. Maupin said he didn't know if Blake was trying to hit his wife with the bullet or was just trying to scare her. JACOBS BLOG: Deja Vu All Over Again For Bob Rivers

THE MOUTH, AUGUST 13TH, 2014 –– Jacobs Media's Fred Jacobs quips: 'What started out as a blog...' became quite an in depth look at the life and times of Seattle morning star Bob Rivers who recently announced his retirement. In an expansive 2 part interview, Jacob's writes: 'Bob’s career exemplifies all those old school values – hard work, a belief in the team, a commitment to the community, and an understanding of what’s important' says Jacobs. He adds, 'It’s not the first time. Way back in the day, Bob walked away from WFTQ in Worcester, MA, to join a band called Legend, only to return to WAAF where his radio career got underway in 1981. So maybe Bob’s 7departure from Seattle radio last week is déjà vu all over again.' As for Bob's start, he tells Jacobs: 'I’ve always wanted to be a musician. When I was 5 years-old, my grandfather gave me a transistor radio and an unlimited supply of batteries. He also taught me how to use the phone. I loved hit records and DJs right away, go figure. I started calling request lines and even won a contest! I was on the air live at 5 years-old. Like many, I got into radio partly to be closer to the music scene. I took a few piano lessons in grade school, and tried to play in a band when I was about 21, but I did suck. Radio was my first love, and musicians need to get their 10,000 hours of practice. So making song parodies for my morning show was a way for me to meet and hire great musicians and record and produce perfect copies of hit records. Truthfully, that was my motivation for recording them so authentically. I could have a radio product that was better than anyone else, and follow my other passion: music.' As for his departure from radio, Bob says: 'I love radio. And I never said I was retiring, but I knew the media would. I’m sure I will do more radio. Someday.' (Bob shown right with Spike O'Neill circa 80's). [WATCH] Radio's Special Memories Of Robin Williams

7

THE MOUTH, AUGUST 12TH, 2014 –– Radio, like the rest of the world, as long treasured the comedic genius of Robin Williams. But 1987's film 'Good Morning Vietnam' endeared us even more as the actor took his wit and talent behind the mic to entertain the troops in Vietnam as Airman Second Class Adrian Conquer. The character was based on a real-life host and his epic battles with his 7radio boss, Bruno Kirby who played Second Lieutenant Steven Hauk, brought added joy to those behind the mic. Yesterday, when news first broke of William's death, many of us first thought, or wanted to believe, it was a hoax. Sadly, it turned out to be true and radio hosts and others quickly took to social media to express their sadness. Among the many included Dom Theodore - VP/Prog. for The Blaze. He posted: 'The loss of Robin Williams goes to show that you never know what someone is going through on the inside. You have no idea what "stuff" someone else is facing even if they hide it behind a warm smile and charismatic personality.... ' Q102/Cincinnati's Jeff Thomas: 'Depression tortures so many, including a startling number of our most brilliant. Prayers for Robin Williams' family and those still suffering.' 7Austin's JB, of JB & Sandy wrote: 'One of the most intimidating, wonderful moments of my career. Sandy and I hosting a live auction with Lance Armstrong and Robin stormed the stage and elevated everything beyond belief for half an hour. You never know when someone is in a horrible amount of pain on the inside. RIP Robin. You sure made my life a whole lot better many, many times.' WSTR/Atlanta's Jimmy Alexander posted 'People often ask me who is the nicest celebrity I've ever met...my answer is ‪‎Robin Williams‬. Unbelievable that a man who brought so much happiness and laughter to people was fighting so many demons..' Jeff Mauler of Hot 89.9 Ottawa along with Rush & Jennie went LIVE last night upon learning the news. He wrote: 'taking hundreds of calls about the passing of Robin Williams. The callers' stories and thoughts are incredible about this incredible man. --- I'm absolutely speechless ... The world got a whole lot less funny today. RIP Robin Williams.' [WATCH] The Real Adrian Cronauer On Robin Williams

THE MOUTH, AUGUST 12TH, 2014 –– Robin Williams made the words, “Good morning Vietnam” famous in the movie, but it was an actual radio host from Roanoke who first aired the words on AFN. This was Adrian Cronaue7r (R), now 75 years old. But in 1965 and 1966 he was a jock for the the armed services in Saigon. He tells WSLS TV, He thought the troops needed a lift and modeled his radio show after a successful morning radio host in Pittsburgh named Rege Cordic (L). When the TV series M.A.S.H. became popular, he thought there might be a way to make a funny movie or TV series about life in Vietnam – even though people told him Vietnam could, as he told me, “not be funny.” He kept at his concept under wraps until William's 'people' bought the rights. “They changed everything, but they made my movie,” Cronauer told WSLS just wo hours after learning of William's apparent suicide. “He was always on. You never saw the real Robin Williams,” he said. He added the two of them didn't meet person-to-person until the movie's premier. “If he had met me he would have started to impersonate me, and they didn't want that,” said Cronauer. “Besides—Williams was way funnier, and a lot of what he said in the movie – I could have never said.” WATCH HERE

REPORT: Casey Kasem's Body Being Moved Again

THE MOUTH, AUGUST 12TH, 2014 –– There are reports that Casey Kasem's body is on the move, again. This time to a secret location and against his older children's wishes. According to nydn.com,
nearly two months after it was confirmed that his body 7had been found at a funeral home in Canada, a private investigator hired by Kerri Kasem says "We have been told by some reliable sources that it's Norway, but we don't have a confirmation," Logan Clarke told the Daily News. This follows a failed attempt by Kerri Kasem to prevent her father's body from being removed from a Washington by Jean Kasem. Clarke called Jean "sick" for "hiding" the body after Kerri Kasem went to court in Washington asking for a hold on burial plans pending her request for a second autopsy amid claims of elder abuse. ""I truly believe Jean is following her same sick pattern. It goes back to her stealing Casey from his Santa Monica nursing home. She's now trying to salvage whatever defense she has for her elder abuse," said Clarke. Kasem's children are hoping the Santa Monica police will step in to prevent the body's removal. "We're trying to do something fast because this is happening right now," said Clarke.. SOURCE: NYDN PHOTO/screen grab. is

Our first choice was a no-brainer. Kurt Hanson (R) is synonymous with innovation in our industry. He’s been inventing and reinventing for years, and we’re pleased to honor him in our “Radio’s Most Innovative” effort. Mike Stern wrote this piece and will be a regular contributor on “Innovation Fridays.” Congratulations, Kurt, and as you’ve reminded us at several RAIN Summits, “Things are moving faster than we 7think.” – FJ In 1999, cellphones didn’t have cameras, texting was brand new, and the first iPods were two years away. Yet, while the world was concerned about Y2K, Kurt Hanson launched RAIN: Radio And Internet Newsletter — the first publication devoted to the world of streaming audio. Then, to further illustrate his commitment to this new space, the following summer he began building AccuRadio, a multi-channel online music streaming service that now reaches nearly a million unique listeners monthly. The launch of those two innovative businesses weren’t the first time Hanson had struck out on his own. Twenty years earlier he founded Strategic Media Research, a respected market research firm that even challenged Arbitron with its AccuRatings product. Today, Kurt is considered one of the leading experts in the field of new delivery mechanisms for audio, and RAIN has brand extended to include conferences – RAIN Summit.
