Robin Marshall Reveals She Has Cancer

THE MOUTH, AUGUST 18TH, 2014 –– The popular voice-over specialist, recently turned author revealed on her Facebook page today "last week ending in D-Day on Friday when the bomb was dropped in my lap: I have stage 2 uterine cancer and need a hysterectomy. In my brain I’m thinking, "Those are all my good parts! How could they turn on me NOW?” It’s like I want to have a good "talkin’ to,” with myself. With this news, I shook, as people do when they’re in shock, I asked the doctor to explain it to me, which she did… and after finishing her spiel consisting of medical lingo, tumors, numbers and parts I didn’t even know I had… she asked if I understood. I said, "F*** No! I need to call my girlfriend who’s currently a chief radiologist at Sloan Kettering in NY and let you tell her so she can tell me!” She continued by drawing me pictures of my insides, where I calmly began pushing numbers on my cell phone until Arlene answered. I interrupted the fast-talking doc and said, "Here, tell her everything.” She did! I’ve decided that I’ve always been forthcoming here on Facebook and Twitter and it is ridiculous for me to continue to hide what I’m facing, while at the same time I’m the LAST ONE to look for sympathy! Holy Cow! I just released this book: "The Diary of a Sugar Mom!” I’m already thinking, …”Hmmm… if I Die… I might sell more books and my Kids will be better off!” It’s the entrepreneur in me, I just can’t help it!" She closes by added: So here I am… a Sugar Mom who just got (B)itch-slapped in the face by a huge hand of reality. I’m assuming I overstepped, (what else is new?) and this is just God’s way of putting me back in my place or just slowing my (a)ss down a bit until she can catch up. I get it. I’ll be good. I promise! Please, no fake comments. I shared with you because I want you to go to the doctor if you feel something’s wrong or out of whack ... Any conversations we have via email are private. Period. Robin@RobinMarshallSugarMom.com.

KISS Ban Mounts In Wake Of Gene Simmon's Suicide Comments

THE MOUTH, AUGUST 18TH, 2014 –– First came Sixx Sense' Nikki Sixx calling out (see JD 8.15) colleague Gene Simmons over his insensitive comments regarding suicide and depression in songfacts.com, now the backlash has extended to radio. According to blabbermouth.comAustralian broadcaster Triple M has pulled all KISS tracks from its playlists countrywide. Over at WPYX/Albany NY, host Uncle Vito vowed not to play KISS music, labeling Simmons “an arrogant, unfeeling a—hole.” Power 97 Winnepeg also joined in with its Kiss Free Zone (shown). Simmons has SINCE responded to all this backlash on his Facebook page with the following message: "I want to make this statement about my views on depression for the record and to clarify my prior remarks. To the extent my comments reported by the media speak of depression, I was wrong and in the spur of the moment made remarks that in hindsig7ht were made without regard for those who truly suffer the struggles of depression. I sincerely apologize to those who were offended by my comments. I recognize that depression is very serious and very sad when it happens to anyone, especially loved ones. I deeply support and am empathetic to anyone suffering from any disease, especially depression. have never sugarcoated my feelings regarding drug use and alcoholics. Somewhere along the line, my intention of speaking in very directly and perhaps politically incorrectly about drug use and alcoholics has been misconstrued as vile commentary on depression. Unkind statements about depression was certainly never my intention. Fully, you will know that and I do not intend to defend myself here and now, by listing the myriad charities and self-help organizations I am involved with. Rather, I simply want to be clear that my heart goes out to anyone suffering from depression and I deeply regret any offhand remarks in the heat of an interview that might have suggested otherwise.' Among Simmon's comments in songfacts.com, he said: "I'm the guy who says 'Jump!' when there's a guy on top of a building who says, 'That's it, I can't take it anymore, I'm going to jump .. Are you kidding? Why are you announcing it? Shut the f--- up, have some dignity and jump!" Simmons Photo/Oscar Schnell

7THE MOUTH, AUGUST 18TH, 2014 –– Cox Media Group (CMG) San Antonio has re-branded San Antonio’s only classic rock station as 106.7 FM The Eagle. "Today is a historic day for Birmingham radio as we bring true classic rock music back to the Magic City," Clear Channel Birmingham vice president and general manager Ray Quinn said in a release. "For over two years, there's been a huge absence of the format since the legendary Rock 99 went away. Rock 99 had an iconic following of fans and advertisers, so we've brought it back on a new frequency at 94.9 FM." ######### Meanwhile, up in Fort Wayne, IN, Adams Radio has launched a new R&B Station B-96.9 R&B + Old School. ABC's Ann Compton To Retire In September

THE MOUTH, AUGUST 18TH, 2014 –– ABC Radio News VP/GM Steve Jones sent the following note to its radio division last Friday about ABC News White House Correspondent, Ann Compton: "Last winter, Ann Compton raised a subject she’s hinted at before and that I’d previously managed to avoid: her retirement. She told me how amazing it was being a new grandmother and suggested that, after 40-years at ABC News, perhaps it was time to transition to the next phase of her life. I listened, smiled and told her we’d chat again, hoping she’d change her mind. But, by the spring, it was clear to me that Ann was ready to leave the job she has loved so that she can spend more time with the people she loves: her wonderful family. We have a date set in late September for us to celebrate Ann’s career in a setting that will let her friends and co-workers offer tributes and recollections about one of the most amazing women in journalism and one of the greatest friends and colleagues I have had the pleasure to work with. For now, though, Ann has asked that she be allowed to continue reporting from the White House without distraction. We’ll have plenty of time next month to celebrate her career express our admiration, appreciation and love."

REPORT: Casey Kasem To Be Buried in Norway

THE MOUTH, AUGUST 15TH, 2014 –– As Jockline reporter earlier this week (JD 8.12), the body of Casey Kasem was allegedly being moved out of the country for his bur7ial. Now, according to Norwegian newspaper VG, a private investigator, Logan Clarke, hired by Kasem's daughter Kerri told The Hollywood Reporter, "He's going to be buried in Norway." In the Norwegian press account, Wenche Madsen Eriksson, a government official, was quoted by reporter Marcus Husby saying, "It is arranged. He's going to Oslo." The report said the official would not specify which of Oslo's 20 cemeteries and one crematorium was chosen by Kasem's widow, Jean Kasem. This final destination would end one of media's most troubling and tragic episodes which goes back several month to when Casey's older Children picketed outside of his Santa Monica estate. "We don't know what [Jean Kasem's] plans are," says Danny Deraney, spokesman for Kerri Kasem. "We just know that she wants to keep Casey away from [his] family and friends and by the looks of it, hiding from law enforcement." Family members tell THR that the feud between Jean Kasem and her husband's family has gone on for 35 years. An investigation by Santa Monica Police is still underway with allegations that Jean Kasem abused the late Kasem after removing his in the middle of the night from a Santa Monica hospital to Las Vegas and then to Washington State.

[LISTEN] Nikki Sixx Calls Out Gene Simmons Over Suicide Comments

"He thinks everybody listens to him, that he is the god of thunder. He will tell you he is the greatest man on earth, and to be honest with you, I like Gene. But in this situation, I don’t like Gene.." - Sixx

THE MOUTH, AUGUST 15TH, 2014 –– This week on Sixx Sense with Nikki Sixx, Sixx and co-host Jenn Marino discussed KISS frontman Gene Simmons’ recent interview with SongFacts.com, in which he expressed his lack of sympathy for people suffering from substance abuse and depression. Sixx, a recovering addict who suffered a near fatal drug overdose more than 25 years ago, called out Simmons for his insensitive remarks, which included the suggestion that depressed people should kill themselves. Sixx: “…It’s pretty moronic because he thinks everybody listens to him, that he is the god of thunder. He will tell you he is the greatest man on earth, and to be honest with you, I like Gene. But in this situation, I don’t like Gene, I don’t like Gene’s words, because…there is a 20-year-old kid out there who is a KISS fan and reads this and goes, ‘You know what? He’s right. I should just kill myself’…” Sixx continued: “…For people who are depressed, there is a way out. There are many, many ways out. And I don’t want people to listen to an interview from a rock star, who’s telling you the only way out is out, when I’m telling you, and I wrote it in The Heroin Diaries, you can get out of this. ...One in 10 Americans are affected by depression at one point in their life, so this is another thing to think about. At one point in your life, meaning it will come and it will go…they say all bad things must pass, all bad things will pass, so keep that in the back of your mind if you’re feeling depression, and don’t listen to people who don’ t know what they’re talking about.” LISTEN HERE
