[WATCH] 'F**k It I Quit' TV Reporter Issues Apology

THE MOUTH, SEPTEMBER 23RD, 2014 –– It may be a TV story, but there wasn't a radio station in sight who didn't feast on the story. By rare chance you missed it, this involved KTVA-TV/Alaska's Charlo Greene who quit on-air during its 10 p.m. newscast Sunday, revealing herself as the owner of the medical marijuana business Alaska Cannabis Club and telling viewers that she would be using all of her energy to fight for legalizing marijuana in Alaska. At the end of the report, during a live shot, she announced that she was the club's owner and would be quitting. "Now everything you've heard is why I, the actual owner of the Alaska Cannabis Club, will be dedicating all of my energy toward fighting for freedom and fairness, which begins with legalizing marijuana here in Alaska," she said. "And as for this job, well, not that I have a choice but, f**k it, I quit.” Then, she walked off camera. According to The Alaska Dispatch, when asked why she quit in such a dramatic way, she said, "Because I wanted to draw attention to this issue. And th7e issue is medical marijuana. Ballot Measure 2 is a way to make medical marijuana real ... most patients didn’t know the state didn’t set up the framework to get patients their medicine." "If I offended anyone, I apologize, but I’m not sorry for the choice that I made," she said. In a statement posted on KTVA's Facebook page Sunday night, news director Bert Rudman said, "We sincerely apologize for the inappropriate language used by a KTVA reporter during her live presentation on the air tonight. The employee has been terminated." Alaska voters will decide on Nov. 4 whether to legalize recreational use of pot in the state, as Colorado and Washington have. REPORT: Top Stars Forego Big Paychecks At Radio Shows For Media Exposure

THE MOUTH, SEPTEMBER 22ND, 2014 –– Some of entertainment's top stars are willing to perform for next to nothing in exchange for a media exposure, according to The Wall Street Journal. In accordance with federal law, shows such as iHeartMedia doesn't promise artists or labels airplay in exchange for their appearances. WSJ cites one veteran promoter who calls it "showola." Many artists and their labels fight for the chance to appear at a discount while promoting new songs—especially new televised shows such as the iHeartRadio Music Awards, which drew more than five million viewers for its debut in May. The televised events offer national exposure that further augments the record and ticket sales generated by that radio play. IHeartMedia has broadcast its holiday Jingle Ball and summer Pool Party events on the CW Network; it plans to televise its second annual country music festival next year as well. Before his network days, Sykes worked in music management and represented Mariah Carey. And what was mega-star like back then? “She was living in a studio apartment with her cat and playing songs on her piano,” he said. “She was a 19-year-old girl from Long Island with these great songs. She became this giant pop sensation, but I remember seeing her as a brilliant gospel singer. She had an amazing voice and the ability to write great songs.”
