Apple Takes Aim At Music Streaming

THE MOUTH, SEPTEMBER 7TH, 2012 –– Looks like the Pandora, iHeart and others may be getting more company soon with word of Apple now talking to music labels about streaming its products, according to The Wall Street Journal. As to why Apple would want to get into the music streaming market given its difficulty in turning a profit, according to allthingsd.com, Apple is reportedly asking for more permissive licenses than the ones Pandora gets. Plus, Apple, along with its iAd, believes it can do a much better job at selling ads than Pandora. Add to this that an Apple streaming service may dissuade iPhone or iPad us ear from jumping ship to rivals like Samsung, Google or Amazon and there's even more motivation. Better keep an ear on this one.

DNC Leaves Some On Radio Row Furious Following Profiling

7

THE MOUTH, SEPTEMBER 7TH, 2012 –– For those who followed the Democratic Convention on radio, you may have noticed fewer politicians speaking with certain talk hosts, especially those on the conservative side of the aisle. ABC News Radio VP/GM Steve Jones told NTS Media Onlline's Al Peterson "In Charlotte, we found the DNC less enthusiastic about working with radio stations. Several times, they offered us guests to book, but then the guests cancelled when they found out which stations or hosts they were scheduled to speak with." Larry O’Connor of Breitbart Radio tells Jockline Daily "We were here to get content and since the campaign and the party were not interested in working with us to provide interview opportunities, they forced us to conduct impromptu, unscheduled interviews with politicians in the corridors of the arena. Unfortunately, the story for the Democrats ended up being their lack of participation with outlets or hosts who might not agree with them rather than a more positive message they could have communicated to our audience. That said, my liberal colleagues like Stephanie Miller, Bill Press, David Shuster and Alan Colmes were great guests and were very supportive of our efforts. PHOTO: Courtesy of Chris Crump/Comrex

WBT'S WHITMIRE: "Charlotte Pulled Off It Off Beautifully!"

7

THE MOUTH, SEPTEMBER 7TH, 2012 –– Not all occupants of radio row experienced the same resistance from Democratic guests than others. Shows such as TRN's America's Radio News Network found getting guests not a problem. Co Anchors Lori Lundin and Rachel Crowson snagged interviews with Rev. Jesse Jackson, Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, Actress Tyne Daly, Sandra Fluke, sister Simone Cambell, “Nuns on the Bus,” and many more. Others like Charlotte based WBT's Brad Krantz & Britt Whitmire had quite a different experience. Whitmire tells Jockline Daily "It was the biggest event in Charlotte's history and I think the city pulled it off beautifully. We talked to Jesse Jackson, Sam Donaldson, Ann Compton (shown with Brad and Britt), Beau Bridges, Michael Steele, and many others. WBT did kind of have a "home field advantage" with our location on radio row (thanks to CBS), but a lot of people put in a lot of hard work to make us shine this week.

In fact, she tells Big D and Bubba she’s never heard of the show. Bubba: “Well, apparently on the internet, everybody’s been saying that you’re saying June, the mom on Honey Boo Boo Child, is exploiting the daughter and all that kind of stuff. And we were like, ‘really?’ So we wanted to ask you. We wanted to get right to the point, get to the source.” Kris: “I have never heard of these people before. I thought it maybe was a pet. Like Boo Boo Goo Goo, whatever it’s called. I don’t have any idea what you’re talking about... Call Goo Goo Boo Boo and tell them that I’m sorry, but I don’t know what they LISTEN TO AUDIO

BOBBY VALENTINE: Joking About Wanting To Punch Radio Host In The Mouth [AUDIO]

THE MOUTH, SEPTEMBER 6TH, 2012 –– Amid a less than spectacular season for the Red Sox, Boston fans are not too pleased with its new manager, Bobby Valentine (shown). Adding to their displeasure, are recent rumors of his being late to the ball park. Yesterday he joined WEEI/Boston's Glenn Ordway and Michael Holley and was asked whether he had “checked out” for this season. Things got testy from there. "What an embarrassing thing to say. If I were there right now, I'd punch you right in the mouth. Ha, ha. How's that sound? Is that like I checked out? What an embarrassing thing,” Valentine said. "Why would somebody even, that's stuff that a comic strip person would write. If someone's here, watching me go out at 2 o'clock in the afternoon, watching me put in the right relief pitchers to get a win, putting on a hit-and-run when it was necessary, talking to the guys after the game in the food room—how could someone in real life say that?" As for the punch comment, Valentine said “Didn’t I go, ‘Ha, ha?’ “I don’t think physical violence is necessary for 60-year-old people.” Meanwhile, The Red Sox lost 2-1 to the Seattle Mariners last night and remain in 4th place.
