[LISTEN] How Melissa Rivers Got Stern To Deliver Eulogy

THE MOUTH, SEPTEMBER 9TH, 2014 –– SiriusXM's Howard Stern said on Monday's show that when Melissa Rivers first asked him to deliver the Eulogy at her mother's funeral, he told her she was asking the wrong guy. After calling the service 'one of the greatest events he'd ever witnessed, he explained "I had gotten a call from Melissa like a day and half before the service asking me if I would speak," he said. 7"I said to her, 'Melissa, you are asking the wrong guy.' I said, 'I'll do it, I would do anything for Joan, I will do anything for you." After telling her she should get someone more suited to the task, she told him 'No, I want you to do it. I didn't want to say the wrong thing," he said. "I was in touch with Louis C.K. and he said, 'You know, Joan really deserves a great send off. He said something very profound. He said, 'Joan was like an aunt or a best friend who could make everything better.' Even in times after say 9/11 or the country just seems to be going down or things just seem to be bad, when she would crack a joke ... you didn't feel so alone. It just made you feel better knowing Joan Rivers was making a joke about it." LISTEN HERE

[LISTEN] WWO Sports' Larry Fitzgerald Talks Ray Rice's Team Drop And NFL Suspension: "You Have To Live Your Life Like You're Always Being Watched'

THE MOUTH, SEPTEMBER 9TH, 2014 –– Following news of Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice being booted from his team and suspended indefinitely by the NFL after new video evidence shown by TMZ of him beating his then-fiancée unconscious, Westwood One Sports' contributors and current NFL players Tom Brady and Larry Fitzgerald commented to Jim Gray before Monday Night Football doubleheader on Westwood One. Tom 7Brady: “It’s a very sad and tragic situation for everyone that’s involved. You can’t help but see the video and have a strong reaction toward it. There’s really no place for domestic violence in our society. Larry Fitzgerald (shown) said “It’s disturbing, to say the least. It has no place in our society and especially has no place in our league. The commissioner and the Baltimore Ravens took swift action and I think deservingly so. It was really tough to watch that video. I think you have to live your life like you’re always being watched. You have to make sure that you understand that anything you do potentially could change your life. There’s video cameras in malls, there’s video cameras in parking lots. You know, so you have to be aware. But the important thing is just to live life right. Do the right thing and you don’t have to worry about it.” Hear Larry Fitzgerald HERE

Mother Nature Throws Water On Phoenix' Hosts Drive To Work

7THE MOUTH, SEPTEMBER 9TH, 2014 –– As monsoon storms brought record-setting rainfall and flooding to Phoenix, The Johnjay & Rich Show found itself immersed in the media coverage. On the way to the radio studio yesterday morning, Johnjay became stranded in a flooded intersection for two hours and had to co-host the program from his car while waiting to be rescued. Their tale even was picked up by ap (read here). JJ told Jockline Daily "I was driving to work same way I always do, the neighborhood I go down by the station was pitch black as it always is...suddenly my car turned off and I was coasting... I was stuck in the middle of the flood! Water was coming thru my door and then my electrical shut off! I couldn't roll down the window and I couldn't open the doors! The water was rising! I called my partner Rich, he has a jacked up raised F150 ( cuz he lives in BFE)...he pulled up next to me, I kicked the window open climbed on the roof and jumped into his truck! (BTW all this during a stop set) I did the first two breaks of our show from inside my car! Simply.. Rich Berra saved my life! ######### Among other hosts stifled on the way to work was Justin Scheman of Mix 969. He tells Jockline daily "It seems that I have the worst luck. I have lived in 7 states including Florida which floods all the time and the only time I have ever gotten stuck in water was in the desert of Phoenix! While driving to work at 3:50am in the pouring rain I was cruising in about 6-8 inches of water until the road dipped and the hood of my car was almost under water (shown) I slammed in reverse but with front wheel drive it didn't catch traction so I stepped on the gas to make it the gas station just 15 feet away and the car went dead. I opened the door to get out and water filled the car."

Radio Host Comes To Aid Of Hilary Duff Following Hit & Run In L.A.

THE MOUTH, SEPTEMBER 9TH, 2014 –– Singer and actress Hilary Duff says Sophie Monk (shown) saved her in a hit-and-run in Los Angeles. According to dailymail.com, Duff was in Australia promoting her latest single 'All About You', and while being interviewed by 2DayFM's breakfast show hosts Jules Lund, Merrick Watts and Sophie Monk revealed she had a car accident and Sophie comes out of nowhere during a rainy day in LA. "This girl hit me, she rear-ended me, and tried to run. And Sophie took her (own) car and blocked her off. Monk blocked the driver's car and took down the driver's number plate I'm like "Sophie?" and she's like, "Oh my God, Hilary!"' Meanwhile, quick-thinking Sophie rushed to her friend's rescue preventing the driver from leaving the scene and taking down the number plate. Sophie took to Instagram to upload a picture of her friend calling her the 'sweetest thing' the pair met while dating Madden brothers Benji and Joel in 2006. And, apparently, she admitted to not being the best driver. "I've had a few (accidents), mostly with my own house though. So that’s a good thing, it’s always best when there is only one person involved. 'I've hit my garage a few times. Sometimes I've pulled in too tight. I've always had a big car so I've pulled in and scratched it, things like that.' PHOTO/instagram

STUDY: Radio Remains Strong With Likely PPM Participants

THE MOUTH, SEPTEMBER 8TH, 2014 –– NuVoodoo Media Services has revealed additional findings from its fourth and latest NuVoodoo Ratings Prospects Study. Among nearly 1100 respondents, ages 14-54 in all PPM markets, 89% use radio daily among those who say they would participate in a PPM-style ratings methodology. Radio remains highly relevant – especially among those who would be inclined to participate in the current 7ratings system. Leigh Jacobs, Vice President, Research for NuVoodoo said: “Radio remains strong, particularly among could-be ratings participants. These human periscopes who are inclined to participate in the PPM ratings are beneficial in many ways. In our data, we’ve seen that they’re more highly attuned to paying attention to advertising messages and are more likely to enjoy the contests that radio stations use as part of their promotional arsenal. It’s especially beneficial to radio, since fewer listen daily among those who predicted that they wouldn’t participate in a PPM-style methodology. Mike O’Connor, Executive Vice President, Marketing for NuVoodoo said: “Armed with this information and deeper insights beyond, we can help our marketing clients target heavy users of radio with minimal waste. And with Facebook, Google and YouTube at our disposal in 2014, it’s never been more economical to reach them.” Carolyn Gilbert, President for NuVoodoo said: “All broadcasters complain about the ratings, but these data show that, even with the limitations, all in all, PPM ratings are good for radio – unless, of course, one of your important panelists goes on vacation, in which case it’s the worst system ever devised by anyone.” Complete findings of the latest NuVoodoo Ratings Prospects Study are available exclusively to all NuVoodoo clients for their use in developing their marketing and promotion plans for the coming year. Past studies have been fielded late in the year for release after the holidays, but this update was fielded going into the fall ratings season to make sure NuVoodoo clients have the benefit of the very latest intelligence on emerging social media platforms for use in their marketing and promotion plans.
