Former WGCI-FM morning host Tony Sculfield has joined WSRB-FM/Chicago as its new nighttime host. According to crm.com, he replaces Ramonski Luv, who exited the station last week. In April 2009, he had moved to mornings as the host of "Tony Sculfield & The Morning Riot" on WGCI-FM, but left the station in December 2014

Longtime nightime host on iHeart Radio's WPRW/Power 107 Augusta, "Kydd Joe" Collins is rising to the role of APD/MD. Collins said: "Power 107 is a heritage station and I'm confident my knowledge and experience will be an asset to the station as we continue to keep a competitive edge in Augusta." Collins follows Miss Monique, who was left to program sister station WJIZ/Albany, GA.

As for the tour, Margy Holland, Country Editor for The Pulse of Radio, was among a select group of industry insiders selected to attend a sneak peek of Dierks Bently’s 2015 Sounds of Summer Tour on Monday (June 1) at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville. Dierks gave attendees a five-song sample of his set list, including the hit song "Drunk on 7A Plane" along with a preview of the pyrotechnics that will be on display each night of the tour.

He told Holland, “We thought fireworks (and) pyro would be kind of a cool thing for this tour. . . it just felt like let's just go all out as far as this is the screen, the pyro, the fire, the smoke. Let's just make a big show, so it's fun. It's the first time for me having this many toys to play with and it's been a lot of fun." REPORTS: Marketron Shows Positive Signs For Radio At Mid-Year Mark; BIA/Kelsey Sees SMB's Oriented 'Highly Towards Digital

THE MOUTH, JUNE 1ST, 2015 –– In Marketron's just released report of where the industry stands at mid-year, it shows optimism about the state of Radio. When asked about their outlook for revenue growth over the next 12 months, 74% of respondents replied that they saw revenue for their company growing slightly to significantly in the next year. Similarly, respondents described the outlook as "better" (44%) nearly 2 and 1/2 times the rate as those describing the next year as "worse" (18%). Descriptions of changes in listening habits over the past 12 months seemed modest in comparison to trends reported elsewhere.

Only 48% of Radio leaders stated that they felt listenership in their stations had changed over the past year. They also stated that 7the mix of revenue sources was relatively equal to that of a year ago. Looking ahead however 92% predicted a shift to listenership from streaming both of station driven streams and pureplay providers like Spotify and Pandora. READ MORE HERE

In another report from BIA/Kelsey, it shows retail SMBs (small and medium-sized businesses in the retail vertical industry segment) are highly oriented toward digital media. In its new report titled, “Retail SMBs – Advertising & Marketing Trends.” Retail SMBs surveyed reported they planned to spend 43 percent of their total ad budget on digital media in the 12 months following the survey.

“Going forward, retail SMBs register an interest in many advertising and marketing services, particularly ecommerce services, online satisfaction surveys, email marketing, online leads management and business software in general,” said Steve Marshall, director of research, BIA/Kelsey. Apple In Talks To Sign Drake & Pharrell As Guest DJ's On iTunes Radio

THE MOUTH, JUNE 1ST, 2015 –– In a clear sign that Apple wants to take on radio with a bang, it's reportedly in talks to sign a rumored $19 million deal to get recording artist Drake and others as a guest DJ for iTunes Radio. According to The New York Post, in addition to Drake, others being touted include Pharrell Williams (who 7flashed an Apple Watch on “The Voice” last month) and French DJ David Guetta. The paper also reports that Apple has been visiting record labels to make deals, ahead of its Developer Conference in San Francisco next week. Apple hopes to offer a three-month free trial period for its $10-a-month subscription service, but it also wants the labels to give it rights for free music during that time.

In the mix is also a YouTube-style post-it-yourself destination called Apple Connect and a well-documented reboot of iTunes Radio. Along with a cast of top stars, Apple CEO Tim Cook will take the stage on June 8 and is expected to announce its new streaming music service on June 8 at its annual Developers Conference in San Francisco.

[WATCH] Longtime Louisville Host Peter Bucalo (Peter B) Ordained A Priest

THE MOUTH, JUNE 1ST, 2015 –– Beyond those countless calls from listeners during his 20-7year stint at WDJX/Louisville, Peter Bucalo, beloved co-host along with Kelly K on the highly popular Peter B & Kelly K show, unbeknownst to many came a much more personal calling: the Priesthood. Following a long, successful radio career, Bucalo hung up the cans in 2008 (see video below of his last day on-air) and started his long journey into the Priesthood where he was finally ordained this past Saturday in the Archdiocese of Louisville.

95.5 PLJ New York Gets Behind Jayde Donovan's Apple-a-Day

THE MOUTH, JUNE 1ST, 2015 –– Jayde Donovan, co-host of Todd & Jayde in the Morning on 95.5 PLJ, is the founder of the Apple-a-Day 7program. Jayde’s mission is to spread joy to pediatric cancer patients, and to honor the memory of her dear friend Brittany, who passed away from bone cancer in 2010.

Jayde launched the Apple-a-Day Program on what would have been Brittany’s birthday, April 22, 2011. Since that time, Jayde and her team of volunteers have surprised 200+ pediatric cancer patients with new iPads. "I've seen how this one small gesture can change a child's outlook in such a positive way. This technology offers them a bridge into the world they are not currently able to be a part of. My program is not going to change the world, but it can change that child's world," said Jayde. Every weekday in the month of May at 7:25 a.m., Jayde surprised another pediatric cancer patient with their very own iPad! The station’s efforts to support this cause will culminate in the giving of iPads to 20 brave kids from the tri-state area at the “iPad Party” hosted by 95.5 PLJ and Hard Rock Café in Times Square.

FORMATICS: WKTI Calls Return To Milwaukee With Flip To Country

THE MOUTH, JUNE 1T, 2015 –– E.W. Scripps Media, the new owner of WLWK-FM (94.5) has switched the station back to its old call letters, playing country music and calling itself KTI Country. "Bringing back the iconic WKTI call letters 7was a natural decision for us as we build a radio station that will be filled with local personalities, information and entertainment," says Tom Langmyer, VP/GM of Milwaukee operations for E.W. Scripps Co., said in a statement. "WKTI was famous for its connection to Wisconsin, and we're excited to bring back that strong local brand, this time married to great country music."

In an email to jsonline.com, Langmyer said the station plans to add more on-air personalities, and will be "live and local all day." WKTI's switch to country replaces the adult-hits format that has been airing at 94.5 on the FM dial for decades. The station changed its call letters to WLWK in 2009.

Ten More Names Added To WGN's Radio Walk Of Fame

THE MOUTH, JUNE 1ST, 2015 –– Ten more personalities were honored last Friday with induction into the WGN 7Radio Walk of Fame. According to roberfeder.com, 2015 honorees included Eddie Schwartz, Franklyn MacCormack, Steve King and Johnnie Putman, newsmen Steve Bertrand and Lyle Dean, sportscaster Dave Eanet, Cubs broadcaster Ron Santo, host Lou Manfredini and executive Ward Quaal.

Their names will be enshrined with bronze plaques outside the showcase studio of the Tribune Media news/talk station at 435 North Michigan Avenue. WGN personalities Steve Cochran and Bob Sirott hosted the live broadcast. Schwartz, MacCormack, Santo and Quaal were inducted posthumously. The Walk of Fame was established in conjunction with WGN’s 90th anniversary celebration in 2014 to honor the station’s legendary personalities.

More than 160 students have completed this Institute , with 70% of them starting their careers in radio or a related field , when they graduate from the university.
